Like many Democrats, by no means are black women committed to any one candidate this early in the primary season. But they are paying attention and Warren has gotten on folks’ radar. (I hear y’all’s 2020 group chats have been 🔥)
As a 69-year-old white woman from Oklahoma and former Harvard professor running in the most diverse field ever, I wondered what this was about. But voters I spoke to said repeatedly Warren’s been able to connect through stories that resonate and intersectional policy.

my table was political communications, mass media, poli sci, economics. …
…i knew more about the

*barr hearing yesterday
*democratic candidates’ policies
*current polling
*lag time from twitter news cycle to msm hit

… etc. these are people whose jobs study this stuff. yet they were days if not weeks behind the twitter news cycle. or just unaware…
they had no idea mayor pete is pretty much entirely a social media construct.

or that his support is almost entirely gay white men, or that there is such serious issues of racism and sexism within the lgbt community. (one is a gay white man.)…

The treatment of women and infants is a direct reflection of the values of a society—and the U.S. has the worst maternal mortality rate in the developed world. It's a national disgrace. Today, I talked about my idea to fix it. #SheThePeople
Moms in our country are dying from childbirth at rates almost 40% higher than in other wealthy countries—and the Black maternal mortality rate is 3-4 times higher than it is for white moms, across all income levels. We have to call it out. #SheThePeople
The evidence all points in the same direction. The mistreatment of Black and Brown women around maternal health is the direct result of institutional and structural racism. We need bold solutions to the epidemic of maternal mortality in America. #SheThePeople
