Was #Shivajis leadership Anti-Muslim? Lets use facts to answer the question in this thread.

Many anti-Muslim historians of India have portrayed him as an anti-Muslim and anti-Islamic, and this concept was used by some politicians of India, especially from #Maharashtra ... Image
for their anti-Muslim propaganda. Haji Mateen Bagban, President of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Muslim Brigade said that he was a secular Maratha king. He never hurt Muslims or tried to defame Islam…in fact, nearly 30% of his soldiers including 11 personal bodyguards were Muslims.
Some faction of Hindu society championed him as an “important part of #Hindu nationalist ideology”, but the truth is that his relationship with Islam and #Muslims is not so black and white. Image

Yet again foolish attempt to secularise #ChatrapatiShivajiMaharaj

As if there are no works around Shivaji Maharaj?

In his own writing of letter to Jai Singh Shivaji Maharaj tells how he desires to remove Mahomedanism from Deccan. Ever read that letter? I’m posting snippets.
#ShivajiMaharaj tells that his sword is only thirsty for the blood of Mussalmans & calls them Rakshasas.

He asks Jai Singh to help remove Islam from root and branch. Read these highlighted parts. ImageImage
Further #ShivajiMaharaj makes clear in his letter that he has issues with Mussalmans ruling the country of Bharat & prime motive should be to protect:
•Hindus
•Hindusthan
•Hindu Dharma Image

1/n Never seen such a foolish take on #ChatrapathiShivaji’s diplomacy.

By his logic then Gandhi Ji should be a great friend to Hitler based on letter written to him.

He had clear vision & he was opposed to the rule of Musalmans which becomes evident from his own writings.
2/n Here are snippets from letter of Shivaji to Jai Singh where he mentions that he is disheartened that swords of Hindus would be against at each other just because one has chosen to side with Muslims.

He talks of how his sword thirsts for blood of Musalmaans.
3/n Why would he specify Musalamaan & Hindu had he was not clear about his views.

He also says that there Turks are like Rakshasas in the guise of being Adharmik men.

While a lot is known about Shivaji Maharaj’s military conquests and battles, I feel not much focus has been laid on his administration and the way he built up the military. This thread looks at this aspect.
#ShivajiMaharaj #shivajijayanti
Shivaji has rightly been regarded as one of the finest warriors, a great general, a brilliant strategist and a renowned exponent of guerrilla warfare. His role in raising a dynasty and and independent kingdom, during the reign of the Mughals has been legendary.
For some one who spent the better time of his life, fighting to build and preserve his empire, and who really had not much formal education, Shivaji built in quite a robust administration and taxation system.

There were 2 deities at the centre of Chhatrapati Shivaji’s religious & spiritual consciousness. One was Lord Shiva, whom he invoked in his battle cry of ‘Har Har Mahadev.’ The other was Goddess #Bhavani. One of the avatars of #Durga, Bhavani was Shivaji’s patron goddess. A🧵
Her temple at Tuljapur - where she also takes the name ‘Tulja Bhavani’ or simply ‘Tulja - was for him the holiest of holies. Before every battle & before every campaign, small or big, Shivaji prayed to his Mother Goddess. His contemporary chronicler Parmanand wrote that just...
before he went in for his dramatic, life-or-death encounter with Bijapur general Afzal Khan, Shivaji ‘sent up a prayer in his mind to Bhavani.’ The killing of Afzal Khan marked a big turning point in Shivaji’s life, & in honour of the goddess who he was convinced was blessing...

Thread: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a symbol of resistance towards tyrannical regimes. He was a rallying point for nationalists after the partition of Bengal in 1905. The 'Shivaji Utsav' tradition struck roots in Bengal in 1902

#GanapatiBappaMorya is trending and often is a chant used during #GaneshaChaturthi . What is "Morya". The most logical one being it is a combination of 2 marathi words - mhora (soon) & ya (come) meaning come soon which would go with the slogan
But WHO is Morya..... a Thread
By other accounts Morya refers to Saint Morya Gosavi considered chief spiritual progenitor&the most important saint of Ganapatya sect.Tales of his devotion to the lord are unmatched with stories revolving around how the Lord blessed him with multiple encounters #GaneshChaturthi
Morya Gosavi is supposed to have been in the time period of 13th-17th century. His life was filled with divine revelations &miracles. He worshipped at the Moreshwar Temple in Moregon Pune which is the starting &ending point of worship of 8 types of Ganesha . #GaneshChaturthi2022

“एक लक्षात घेतले पाहिजे की, शिवाजी महाराजांनी राज्याभिषेक केला, तो हिंदू धर्मशास्त्राप्रमाणे केला आणि तो तसा करणे आवश्‍यक होते. याचा अर्थ शिवाजी महाराजांचे राज्य फक्त हिंदूंकरिता निर्माण झाले असे नाही. शिवरायांचे राज्य हे भूमिपुत्रांचे राज्य होते.

Did you know?

Shahu Sambhaji Raje Bhosale (or Shahuji) (1682–1749 CE) was the 5th Chatrapati of the Maratha Empire created by his grandfather, #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj

Surprising little is known about this Great Chatrapathi who ruled for a long 42 years and...
...under his rule the Maratha Empire spread North, East and South.

Shahu was the son of Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and his queen,Yesubai. After the torture and barbaric execution of his father at the hands of the Mughals,Shahu and his mother were taken away as prisoners by them.
Shahu was therefore raised in Mughal captivity. He was released and fought a civil war with his Aunt Queen Tarabai to establish his Kingdom in Satara.

Shahu was a excellent judge of character and a benevolent king.

Previous coronations in Deccan were a mix of Vedic & Puranic rites, whereas Shivaji Maharaj intended for a purely Vedic one (Aindryābhiṣek), which hadn't been done for previous several centuries.

A #thread on busting some myths around the coronation of Shivaji Maharaj.

Coronation of Shivaji Maharaj was one of the revolutionary event of the 17th century India. Amidst all the Sultanates & Mughal Empire, a Hindu warrior crowns himself as a King!
#ShivajiMaharaj #Hindutva
2.
However, there are some myths that need to be busted. Historian Jadunath Sarkar has developed some myths about Coronation & Kshatriya Hood of Shivaji Maharaj.

He called Bhosales as Śudras & mere tillers of soil. Jadunath also says that they were "popularly known" as such.
3.
This is a ridiculous thing to claim, without any shred of evidence.

This thread will provide the evidence, showing that many people contemporary of Shivaji Maharaj knew, that he *was* a born Kshatriya.

After the #AgrimaJoshua incident, most of my #NorthIndian friends (some are left-leaning) mocked me for criticising her & asked me what’s the big deal in addressing him as ‘Shivaji’.

This #Thread is for all of them who don’t know much about #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj.

Around 230 BCE, #Maharashtra came under the rule of the #Satvahana dynasty for 400 years.

It was also ruled by the Western Satraps, the #Guptas, Gurjaras-Pratiharas, Vatakas, Kadambas, Chalukyas, #Rashtrakutas and the Western #Chalukyas before finally, the #Yadava Rule.

(2/14)
In short, #Maharashtra was ruled by #Hindu Kings.

Unfortunately, in the early 14th century, the Yadava Dynasty was overthrown by the Islamic Invader #AlauddinKhilji, who was then, the Sultan of #Delhi. This marked the beginning of #Islamic Rule in Maharashtra.

#AgrimaJoshua #ShivajiMaharaj

Since today is the day of #ShivajiMaharaj's coronation and becoming #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj, tempted to do a thread on his Madras/Chennai connection.
So, as we know #ShivajiMaharaj's coronation was held in a glorious ceremony on 6 June 1674. This was important as without the ceremony, Shivaji did not hold any "kingly" title.
After his coronation, Shivaji became #ChhatrapatiShivajiMaharaj. He also was given the titles of Shakakarta (Creator of an era) and Haindhava Dharmoddhaaraka (Protector of the Hindu Dharma).
