Those eight names are Shiva, Maheswara, Rudra, Vishnu, Pitamaha, Samsaravaidya, Sarvajna and Paramatma.

He is named ‘Shiva’ as he is very pure Or as the source of all auspicious qualities, Lord Shiva is called so.

This doctrine of #Parameshwara is found in the beginning

of Veda and in the end of Veda. This is the principle that can be understood from the Veda alone.

Maya should be understood as Prakriti. The wielder of this is Maheshwara. His Vibhuti, glorious manifestation, is the whole world.

‘Rud’ is the cause of grief or sorrow.

Chandramauleshwar Linga:

This is the splendid lingam, worshipped by Lord Sri Rama. Agastya Maharshi worshipped this Lingam, given to him by Varada Muni. It was later handed over to Sri Matha by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. #Mahashivratri
A very happy and blessed #Mahashivratri.
Lingam, in Hinduism, is a votary object that symbolizes lord Shiva & is revered as an emblem of generative power. The image below is of Chandramauleshwar Lingam worshipped by Sri Rama, Rishi Agasthya and Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankarachaya!
The sixteenth scar is Akshaya; unending and inexhaustible. That is ever-present in the head of lord Shiva. The lunar-line is clearly, naturally, in the head of Chandramauleshwar. So it is the only appropriate Chandramauleshwar lingam in the world. #Mahashivratri

FEBRUARY - MONTH TO CONNECT WITH DIVINE ENERGY OF SHIVA

Generally, February is regarded as a great month for love. No doubt western culture has a major effect on our youngster’s mind today. But in reality, the month of February holds an altogether a different meaning in our life.
Its actually the month of devotion. Its the month for offering prayers and connecting to higher energies. Its the month to meditate on the name of ‘formless’. Its the month to seek blessings of ultimate truth in this world.

It’s the month to connect with divine energy of SHIVA!
Shiva is MAHAKAAL i.e. he itself is time. Actually he is beyond time and space. He is eternal God in the form of pure, infinite, indestructible consciousness which is omniscient and omnipresent. He is all benevolent therefore known as BHOLA among its devotees.

So lets surrender

Significance of Lord Shiva’s Damru

Damru symbolizes the Universe that is always expanding and collapsing at the same time. Begins with an expansion it collapses and then it re-expands, this is the process of creation.

Notice your heartbeat, it is not just one straight line but it is a rhythm going up n down. The whole world is nothing but rhythms;energy rising n collapsing to rise again. So the damru signifies that.Notice shape of the damru, from expansion it collapses and again expands #Shiva Image
The darmru is also a symbol of sound. Sound is rhythm and sound is energy. The whole universe is nothing but a wave function, it is nothing but rhythms. What does quantum physics say?

#Shivaratri 2020 was at GWU, leading pooja for the Hindu Students Association. This year they got permission to have 'one candle' hence agreed to lead; there can be no pooja without agnidevata.
logistics had to be looked into days before - as the crowd was mixed - partly sponsored by Sikh Association, Pakistani students association etc but kudos to HSA they let me decide, so 108 names with meanings - shiva ashTottaram was done, print outs given to all
lugged my display collection in the Metro in this dreary weather and reached destination an hour away...

Chandra Mouleshwara temple, Hubballi, Karnataka.

900 years ago, our temple builders were well versed with Sun's movement across seasons. On #Shivaratri day, sun rays enter from the east on the main Linga, as well as a four faced Shiva in the second garbha griha, sequentially!
If you are in Hubballi, don't miss this nice 12th century architecture Hindu temple. You will be happy to see the exquisite carvings.
It is said, Deva shilpi Jakanachari built (assembled) this in 1 night!

Unfortunately the surroundings are poorly maintained and hard to get here.
After watching the rich carvings in every single wall of Chandramouleshwara temple, I wondered how come we have left such a treasured architecture so poorly?

You can't even park a small car nearby. Very narrow roads and nondescript road signs. We need to showcase heritage better
