1: The nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of the #Covid19 pandemic has affected the lives of migrant workers in India the most. The inadequate food and water arrangement in Shramik trains and at the train stations has further aggravated their misery.

2: The #ShramikSpecialTrains were arranged to transport migrant workers back to their homes. The nationwide lockdown led to many living without food, shelter and sanitation facilities. But even in these trains, the migrant workers were not adequately provided with food & water.

3: Nine migrants workers have died so far in the #ShramikSpecialTrains. The Indian railways have done little to protect the passengers from extreme heat, hunger and dehydration.

Social distancing goes for a toss, #ShramikSpecialTrains trains from now on to now run on full passenger capacity. The railway board has written to all general managers of its 18 zones and chief secretaries of all states, informing them that all Shramik 1/2

special trains will now run on full passenger capacity — all berths will be allotted to passengers. Earlier, the middle berths in the sleeper coaches were left vacant to follow the social distancing. Further, the board has approved three stoppages in the destination state on2/3
