🧵Tens of thousands of people have been out on the streets of London since Friday, calling for #ClimateAction.

@morss_alex has been monitoring media coverage.

If you get your news from TV, broadsheets or tabloids, chances are you won't have heard anything about #TheBigOne.
But although you didn't hear about the tens of thousands of people protesting in London, chances are that you did hear about that one guy who jumped on a #snooker table in Sheffield.

None of this remotely surprising. It's yet another example of the #ActivistsDilemma in action. Image
When non-activists criticise groups like JSO for engaging in disruptive protest it's common for them to say they don't mind protest if it's done in a way that doesn't affect people going about their business. That's what activists have been doing this weekend. It doesn't work.

Today’s #Masters final between John Higgins & Yan Bingtao could be a cracker - & also a seminal moment in #Snooker history. Higgins is 45, he turned pro in ’92, & he’s won 4 world championships & 30 ranking titles. He was born in Wishaw, Scotland, then a coal & steel town. (1/3)
Yan, 20, was born 8 years after Higgins turned pro, & has already won a ranking title (2019 #RigaMasters). He’s from Zibo, a city of 4.5 million inhabitants & the birthplace of ancient Chinese Qi culture. Today, China is where #Snooker is growing fastest, & by some margin. (2/3)
Who’ll win? My money is on Higgins, whose long experience of big tournament finals will be hard to beat, but let me put it this way: I wouldn’t be too surprised if, by the time Yan is Higgins’ age, he’ll have won more than 30 ranking titles. He’s that good. Attaboy! (3/3)

Just read @SHendry775's #autobiography, #MeAndTheTable, very different from the first one "Remember My Name" by John Docherty almost 30 years ago. If you're a #snooker fan/nut like me, then it's a must read. Got through it in record time too! My first sporting hero.
This man was the reason why I found myself down the club constantly in my mid to late teens, why I went to watch him at Woodlesford #Snooker Center before he was number 1 and World Champ. He missed a century and rolled/bounced his warped £40 cue across the table in frustration 😃
I'm so grateful that I got to see him at the #Crucible on the last day of the world final where he beat @jimmywhite147 with a session to spare. It was great to see them both come out in the evening with #PeterEbdon, the late Len Ganley and one or 2 other pros. #snooker
