Coming back to road rehabilitation, the @LSPWC_Official will improve work on inner roads focusing on over 116 roads, doing more to ensure quality control and longer lasting intervention while our mobilised construction companies focus on our major roads #SolvingLagosTraffic
While our construction companies work on the roads, @followlastma will be on hand for traffic management while @rrslagos767 protects road users from opportunists. Please do not use this as an excuse to break road laws. The road ahead is long but we have begun #SolvingLagosTraffic
Thank you for listening to me this evening. With that I end our honest conversation on #SolvingLagosTraffic

Beyond road construction, we have started expanding the bus rapid transit system and gradually reducing the danfo buses on the roads. I am excited to announce that we have purchased over 800 buses to add to the existing BRT fleet expanding to more routes #SolvingLagosTraffic
The newly purchased buses are good quality, air-conditioned buses that we hope will encourage more residents to leave their cars at home and use our BRTs.

We are supportive of private investment in transportation that is non exploitative. This week, I launched @Uber Boats the first of many private-sector efforts at providing safe & efficient water transport working with our water transportation initiatives. #SolvingLagosTraffic

When I started my tweets tonight, I talked about having a honest conversation so now I will share some hard truths about #SolvingLagosTraffic
The reality of Lagos is that our current road infrastructure capacity cannot support the number of people in Lagos so we have to create other means of transportation starting with quick wins like water transportation and expanding our bus rapid transit. #SolvingLagosTraffic
Let us look at the numbers. Lagos is fixed in landmass sitting on 3700 sq miles with over 20million people. There are about 240 cars on the roads per KM in Lagos. The national average is 11-15 cars per KM. #SolvingLagosTraffic

Our approach to #SolvingLagosTraffic has always been short and long term. Fix the potholes on the roads; add more traffic signs & lights to improve navigation; improve law & order on our roads, improve road security working with the police & @followlastma.
Also, increase the capacity of our bus rapid transport system, build new and improve existing jetties to increase water transportation; improve security on our waterways and work with the private sector to invest in water transportation. #SolvingLagosTraffic
The @lspwc and @followlastma were among the first agencies we empowered as soon as we came into office. The LSPWC has rehabilitated roads in different parts of Lagos though so much more still needs to be done. The solutions were mostly palliative #SolvingLagosTraffic
