Welcome to the #SriGitamritam session 4. In this session I am sharing my thoughts on the word कार्पण्य-दोष kārpaṇya-doṣa (Gita2/7). When Arjuna was shaken by Srikrishna’s rebuke, he became aware of his weakness -the kārpaṇya-doṣa that had affected his whole being & says: 4/1

This kārpaṇya-doṣa can be translated as the poorness of the spirit or literally the weakness of a miser - कृपण. A miser is he who does not want to give and holds on to his possessions. In a deeper sense the one who is not open-minded or narrow is a miser. 4/3

Welcome to the 2nd session of #SriGitamritam tutorial. Today the discussion will be on what should be one’s attitude who aspires to study the Gita and enter into the spirit of its teaching. This leads to the question who is the real adhikarin to approach the Gita. 2/1
To truly study and enter into the spirit of the Gita or of any spiritual text, the seeker or aspirant has to be a real adhikarin. An adhikarin is the one who has developed the necessary qualities within him. Only then he can gain true benefit from the study of the text. 2/2
Adhikara or necessary eligibility has been misunderstood as this or that group or community alone has the adhikara to study or preach a spiritual text. But, in fact, every human being has the adhikara to be an adhikarin and one must become that to study a spiritual text. 2/3

Namaste. On this auspicious day of गीताजयन्ती gītājayantī, celebrated on the Shukla Ekadashi or 11th day of waxing moon of Margashirsha month, we begin this tutorial on the गीता. It is on this day that Bhagavan Krishna gave this teaching to Arjuna. 1/0
Welcome to the first session of #SriGitamritam. Let me first explain the word गीता gītā itself. The words spoken by Krishna to Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra is known as श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता śrīmadbhagavadgītā (श्रीमत् śrīmat + भगवत् bhagavat + गीता gītā). 1/1
A verse in the Shantiparva (MBH 358/8) says, in the beginning of the war between the Kauravas and Pandavas when Arjuna collapsed and did not want to fight Krishna bhagavan himself gave this teaching. As it was given by bhagavan himself it is known as भगवद्गीता bhagavadgītā. 1/2
