a walk in november rain

outraged electricity
washes in through the ether
making everything prickly
unsettling my brain

the walls are buzzing
i can’t concentrate
can’t sit
must be up and about
so hooded and wrapped
i stalk wet november streets
a restless wraith trying to make sense
of a world gone mad

the rain almost springlike
cools the crackling heat
of breaking hearts starving bodies
but cannot dissolve the shadows coiling
snakelike round my chest
they constrict my breath
my heart pounds the staccato rhythm
of too much caffeine too much uncertainty
too little sleep

where are the words of passion
and tenderness aching to be written
the unrest i'm inhaling
takes my thoughts elsewhere

I'm going to tweet photos of some of the people who support @realDonaldTrump and the rest of this #IllegitimateRegime. Just to let the world know the company his oh-so-Christian and other supporters keep.
Be afraid. Then #FightBack
All credit to photographer @petersonpixs/@NYMag
THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO EMBRACE #Drumpf & his message of #hatred, #WhiteSupremacy, #intolerance, #racism, #bigotry, #xenophobia, #misogyny etc.
And after seeing these images, I want ONE notable #Christian preacher to explain to me & the rest of the world how/why s/he can support #Drumpf, whose message, history & lifestyle is antithetical to all that Jesus preached.
But not one will step forward b/c there IS no defense.

Fluctuations

Some days I feel bulkier than others,
though it's unlikely my weight changes awfully much
these carbon copy days.
I put no effort into the fueling of my body,
eating like a wild animal in the midst of famine.
Picking at this, gobbling that.
A diet that would horrify the doctor I haven't seen in a decade.
Some days my jeans feel snug.
Others they slide down, waistband hanging on hipbones.
Are these changes attributable to caloric intake,
salt, or some other occult mystery?

I have no way of knowing.
Don't waste much thought wondering.

April Showers

A vicious wind hurls raindrops and bits
of aborted April branches studded with
leafbuds that will never bloom against the
screens with the unconscious artistry of
an expressionist in a trance, all the while
singing in a familiar voice I can't quite
place. Echoing in a neuron corridor
littered with the leftovers of another life
begging to be remembered. But the
synapses are too wet to fire.
Out of the corner of my eye I catch the
smoky outline of a man I thought was you
but isn't. But he has a way about him. Or
maybe he doesn't.

i watch us devolving
into the ignorance of the dark ages
as millions who should know better
embrace every lie & fairytale
the hucksters sell
i wonder how long it will be before those of us who know better
are openly persecuted
for speaking what we know to be truth

Good afternoon and thanks to all who read/shared last night’s #shorty. Just dropping in for a minute. Going to be riding for a while. See you later. #StaySafeBeWell ImageImage
That wasn’t riding, it was writing. *sigh* My old phone spoke English as a second language, and it appears the new one does too.

The Day I Found I Was Lost

I.

Halfway to the beach on a sullen afternoon
I turned back.
My throat clotted with tears
as your ghost sailed the granite sea of memory.

I turned back
when the clouds began to weep.
As your ghost sailed the granite sea of memory
I wept too.
When the clouds began to weep
my heretic heart cracked in half.
I wept, too,
as the world kept spinning without you.

My heretic heart cracked in half,
my throat clotted with tears
as the world kept spinning without you
halfway to the beach on a sullen afternoon.
II.

When I returned to the empty shell of home
the Thief of Love was waiting for me.
Dressed in a winding sheet and a sardonic smile,
he opened the door.

a matter of taste

tonight my tongue will taste
dark chocolate
the melting bittersweetness
bathing my brain with chemicals
that masquerade as love
yes
tonight i will briefly burn in a cacao haze
but what a poor substitute for tasting the
darkness of you

i lied…i have the title

when the days begin to bleed into the same day
the formless grey of undifferentiated ticktocks
zigzagging around potholes of open mouths
when the nights swallow all of that regurgitating it
as a sour puddle of circularity onto the platform
of unconsciousness marked only by the music of the undefined
when the last train came through i missed it
i was in the bathroom trying to zip up my sanity
that shrank in the dryer because i forgot to set it on low

Mountaineering

I live atop a smoldering volcano,
always rumbling and threatening to erupt.
I am used to the smoke,
my skin so grey on cloudy days
I melt into the landscape.
I am used to the noise;
it's my lullaby when,
having exhausted myself in the balancing,
I finally collapse.
Why, you wonder, don't you climb down?
Oh, I've tried standing tall,
surveying the pitted surface
that slopes to civilization,
but acrophobia grips me,
talons relentless, sending me spinning
into such mindless panic
I must sit, trying my best to breathe.

after the jubilee

the clock struck the finite hour
while none of us were watching
suddenly soulless
in a world that had stopped evolving
we were left with nothing but stylish ideas
and weeds to chew
prayer stuck in throats
caught forever in a season
somewhere between vinegar and mud
and when it became clear
we were all out of miracles
i emptied my pockets of the wafers
i'd been saving to have blessed

About That Kiss

So tell me about that kiss –
the one you so deliberately mentioned yesterday.
Exactly where on the map of my body would you place it?
Inquiring minds – and hungry neurons –
want to know.
Would you moisten your lips
before applying them to tender flesh
or simply drop that kiss upon my cheek
then run, hide behind whatever‘s convenient
and peek to gauge my reaction?
Or would you take your time,
surveying the landscape laid before you,
then lean slowly down
to burn the outline of your mouth
on a curve of hip or somewhere much more secret?

still hot (pointless)

after that intricate fandango
during which you turned
and twisted me so well
that the mirror threw back
a stranger's face
i threw away my dancing shoes
i've just about closed the book on love
my rewrites are no good
no new juice
each chapter just more
of the same old song and dance
the tune offkey
the dance that damnable fandango

so bye bye love
yet i can be sitting still as a stone
silent
thinking nothing in particular
and your shadow
slips inside my mind

leaving it

i watched you
for a long time

millennia
no
aeons

before i plucked you from
the soup of supplicants

later you said i ambushed you
but that's a lie

you were in there swimming with the rest
sleek seals with trick routines
all of you trying to outjazz each other
without actually saying

pick me

i liked your nonchalance
you never balanced a ball on your nose
all your energy
was directed toward a different kind
of dexterity

i knew you could deliver
and did
for awhile

you tasted me and liked what you tasted
never fawning
always cavalier
i liked that too

jungle drums killed tv

margery daw

winter is coming
makes no nevermind
i'm always cold
shriveled soul hardened heart
beyond repair but for a miracle
miracles are scarce these days
but i'm one to never say never
perhaps the sun will explode
and i'll stand drenched in atomic gold
thawed by the miracle of love

no
that's platitudinous crap
won't say never
not holding my breath in miracle alley
no need to match the wallpaper
to the soul
i'm riding the seesaw
invisibly blue
