Week 4 Fantasy football Takeaways

To get ready for Week 5.

Here. We. Go.
#Vikings

Dalvin Cook didn’t seem limited by his shoulder.

22 touches for 86 yards, but Alexander Mattison got the TD on just four touches.

Woof.
Justin Jefferson is FINE. More than fine actually.

The Vikings WR earned 13 targets to the tune of 10 catches for 147 yards.

Added a rushing TD.

37% target share.

Ironing out kinks in the viz but here are #Chiefs vs #Cardinals receiving stats to tide you over.

Juju looks promsing, MVS isn't a thing but playing over Hardman in 2 WR sets, don't worry about Skyy.

Hollywood will be fine, Ertz part time coming off injury, idk about Dortch.
#Steelers @ @Bengals

Diontae will be fine, really strong Pat F showing, meh from Claypool and Pickens.

Chase is a star, prob don't care about Boyd even with Tee sidelined, even pre-Higgins injury it was firmly the Chase show.
Air yards data looking a bit suspect for a few teams, going to pause for now

A couple of years ago I published a weekly matchups thread with charts for each game, and this year I'm bringing it back! While I'll normally share on Thursdays, I'm so excited for Week 1 to start that I'm sharing this week's today!

Let's have a great season, everyone! 🏈
Before I start, here's a description of the 3 charts:
1. Comparing OFF vs. DEF key stat rankings
2. Player distribution of 2021/22 DK points
3. Player % of team rushing/receiving expected fpts

In addition to these charts, I'll also include one stat nugget relevant to that game!
#Bills @ #Rams (+2.5)
Game total: 52
BUF implied team total: 27.25
LA implied team total: 24.75
Key stat: Buffalo's defensive pass EPA/play went from -0.112 (2nd) with Tre'Davious White (weeks 1-12) to 0.035 (15th) without him (weeks 13-20). He's out Thursday night.

Finished recapping and ranking all of Kevin Colbert's draft picks, 2000-2021, #176 to #1. I'll tweet out the list now. Picks were weighed based solely on Steelers' production, value, longevity, success, etc.

Thread incoming. #Steelers
#176, Colbert's worst pick? Senquez Golson. 2nd round pick. Seven career training camp practices. Ended each year on IR. Never played a single game. Not one. Not even preseason.

Can't predict injuries. Really no one's "fault." But it was his least valuable pick.
#175. Alonzo Jackson – Rd. 2
#174. Fred Gibson – Rd. 4
#173. Danny Farmer – Rd. 4
#172. Kraig Urbik – Rd. 3
#171. Bruce Davis – Rd. 3
#170. Artie Burns – Rd. 1
#169. Orien Harris – Rd. 4
#168. Alameda Ta’amu – Rd. 3 (Trade Up)

Ta'amu. What a whiff. Traded up, got embarrassment.

Ryan Shazier a speaker at the 10th annual Man Up Conference in Cranberry. He shared the story of why he started going shirtless in warmups of cold weather games. Short thread on what he said. #Steelers Image
Winter game at Buffalo several years ago. Shazier is sick, thinks he has the flu. Steelers' defenders are never to wear sleeves. But he tells teammates before the game he is planning to. Too cold, he's too sick.
Defense comes to him and says. You wear sleeves and we're fining you $15,000...per sleeve.

So Shazier opts against the sleeves. And decides to take the field without a shirt.

Over the next week I will be recapping my overall thoughts on what every team did in the 2022 #NFLDraft.

Today I will start with the NFC West and cover the @AZCardinals, @RamsNFL, @49ers and @Seahawks
the @AZCardinals recap

2 (55) TE Trey McBride
3 (87) EDGE Cam Thomas
3 (100) Edge Myjai Sanders
6 (201) RB Keaontay Ingram
6 (215) OG Lecitus Smith
7 (244) CB Christian Matthew
7 (256) LB Jesse Luketa
7 (257) OG Marquis Hayes

fav pick: Thomas
value pick: Luketa
? pick: McBride
draft haul has to include trading for M Brown giving them explosive speed WR they need with loss of Kirk & suspension of Nuk. I think they had more pressing needs than TE after giving Ertz a new 3 yr deal. Think Thomas can become starter & Luketa could have went early 4th

94.01/ Week ninety-four, April 30-May 6, 2022, thread begins here.

Week 93 below.
94.02/ Health update: still no symptoms from my bout with COVID except for general irritability but it's impossible to know if it's different from my normal state. Isolation is lonely (big, if true) but my overall emotion is fear of making someone else sick. Dread is the worst.
94.03/ I see the #Mets won (this is a fun season so far, especially since I'm not the one getting hit by fastballs in the head) and the #NYR won and are ready for the playoffs. Best of all is post-#NFLDraft Sat. night when I get to see all the gifts my team gave me as a fan. #LGM

#Steelers usaron el pick #20 en el QB K.Pickett, ¿era la mejor opción?
Veamos que dicen los números.

Antes, necesitamos un poco de contexto:

Todo equipo debe analizar en qué situación está:
A) Contendiente
B) Posible contendiente
C) Transición
D) Reconstrucción

👇🏻

CB Trent McDuffie
CB K. Elam
C T. Linderbaum
LB D. Loyd

Clase 2022 de QBs considerada débil.

Qué usamos para analizar ésta selección?

1/ Yesterday's #NFL games, where two 1 seeds fell to a 4 & 6 seed, were revenge for all the whiny pundits saying Wild Card weekend was a bust because of all the blowouts. In three games the 49ers beat the Rams, Cowboys and Packers. This is why sports is fun!
2/ And while the Cowboys & Patriots getting blown out in the first round is fun, toppling 1 seeds is even better. Here's a thread with some of my favorite reactions to yesterday's games, especially all the epic dunks on Aaron "Meth Hobo" Rogers.
3/ The Bengals are a division rival & on principle I want them to lose but if they win, it will confirm why div. winners are significant. My #NYM NL East div. was mocked for being soft but our rival ATL won the World Series. My #Steelers rival doing the same would be poetic.

Depressing to do this again but a collection of Steelers' offensive plays Sunday night that were plain broken. Nothing to do with scheme or concept. Just fundamental breakdowns that ruined plays. Happened far too often this year.

Sad thread incoming... #Steelers
Second snap of the game. Feels like Harris ran the wrong way. Roethlisberger turns expecting Harris to run to his left (defense's right). Has to switch ball to left hand to get exchange off.

MIKE 'backer unblocked, Harris forced to bounce. Goes nowhere.
Next drive. Zone run left side. Miscommunication between Hassenauer (C) and Leglue (LG). Who is staying on the 1st level block, who is climbing to LB. Both come off and climb. DT left unblocked and Harris has no crease.

Run dead in the water.

Still not 12 hours after but major decisions need to be made soon to make sure this goes the right way. Can’t be stubborn. No stones unturned. It hasn’t worked for a long time. #Steelers
For starters, a tougher evaluation of assistant coaches and expand the search. Just because you coached with a guy 20 years ago, or, you share a building with him, doesn’t mean it’s going to work. Gotta get some younger blood in that building.
With an expended coaching search, bring on additional coaches. I’m not saying add 10-15. How about 5 up and comers to bring in new ideas and philosophies. Someone that can help with the groin epidemic. Someone that specializes in challenges & clock management. Can’t be cheap.

Steelers big underdogs tonight. Rightfully so. But last Sunday proved anything can happen. Keys to Pittsburgh pulling off one of the biggest upsets in playoff history. #Steelers
Turnovers and red zone play two team stats that will define this game. Steelers -3 in the first meeting, Chiefs had 17 points off it. Can't give Mahomes extra possessions/short fields. Think Steelers gotta be at least +2 and not turn it over.
Defense must get RZ stops. Keep score down. Steelers have basically won all their games this season by winning red zone defense, keeping games close in first half. Dug 23-0 hole in 1st half in Week 16. Give offense time to get going.

79.02/ Every erev-Shabbas I say 'stay safe' and while that's generally about the pandemic, for my fellow Jews it's also about the onslaught of antisemitism that assaults us since the dominance of unchecked hate on social media which led to the rise of Trump (ym'sh) and others.

1/ Reflections on the final #NFL week, esp. related to my team, the #Steelers. We needed a narrow set of circumstances to make it into the playoffs: (1) beat our hated rival (BAL) on the road (2) the worst team must beat a playoff bound one (JAX vs IND) & (3) one more tiny thing
2/ The tiny thing was for the Raiders & Chargers not to tie. Ties are very rare; only one this season (#Steelers, of course, because ugh). This should have been so unlikely not to even be a worry. But I'm a sports fan, ruined by years of #Mets watching; I knew not to relax. From the Order of the Stick, https://www.giantitp.com/comics
3/ Of the three events, the tie was the least likely, then the Colts losing to the hapless Jaguars, and the "easiest" (very hard) step would be for the Steelers to beat the Ravens. We were terrible on the road, the Ravens were better than us, so it wasn't great odds.

Kevin Colbert. Mentor and friend. The thing I admire most about him is that you’d never know he was the top player personnel official for one of the most recognizable pro sports franchises. He never pulled the GM card. Like DMR, he was just one of us. #Steelers
Kevin’s door was always open. For anyone and everyone, any conversation you wanted to have. It wasn’t just lip service. Grateful to say we had many talks. Kevin called me, ‘Pino,’ and he would always bellow it out, ‘PEEEEENO!’ What came after was always a pleasant surprise.
Oftentimes it was a request to come to the scout’s room because they needed a good laugh. I get there, anticipating which impression he wants to hear. Todd Haley? John Mitchell? Danny Smith? Okay, hold on, gotta get some Dubble Bubble for this.
