When I was getting into public health a couple years ago , I wasnā€™t focused so much on Covid because I thought there were tons of people joining the field for that reason. I thought there would be a new generation of the workforce interested in tackling the pandemic. 1/5
Basically, I assumed the renewed interest in my field would mean a stronger response to the continued spread of disease. I thought I could focus my interests on the inequitable mental health outcomes in QT/BIPOC populations. 2/5
I never thought wearing a mask could become so controversial, and that so many of my peers would ā€œstep downā€ from protecting the most vulnerable people affected by a deadly and disabling virus. #CovidIsNotOver 3/5

If people are worried about covid, they avoid shops, go to fewer restaurants, stay away from offices etc.. Big businesses lose money.

Oil companies and commercial property companies lose money if people work from home. People use less petrol, which is the main thing.

People want sick pay, medical care, air filters and ventilation if they know the risks.

Businesses donā€™t want to pay. They fund pro-virus propaganda. Disinfo about covid and #LongCovid.

Covidā€™s the 3rd leading cause of death. 3% of the UK has LC. They need to hide it.

So many volunteers are working extremely hard to make things better.

But one thing Iā€™ve heard a lot this month from longtime experts and people who worked during sars 1, is that this is going to take TIME.
And I know. That is really hard to hear when you have young kids. Especially if theyā€™re in in person school or daycare, and school or daycare are ignoring your concerns and failing to act on airborne hazard.. or if you have ageing or vulnerable family and friends šŸ’”
