It's a sad realisation that most of non bjp politicians in the country are an uninspiring lot !
Many, esp in the media, keep bemoaning the lack of a strong opposition and somehow blame bjp for winning everything in sight and "not leaving space for the opposition".1/n
It's true that in a robust democratic system, it's imperative to have a good, strong opposition to ensure that the ruling dispensation stays on its toes.
But where are the candidates for that space in India? I can't think of one amongst the present lot who stands muster 2/n
Let's examine the chief available options :
1) We begin with the so called "main pan India opposition party". Their de facto chief is a man-child who can't deliver one coherent speech without providing joke material to memers. They secretly consort with enemies of India even 3/n

Parents left to Bangalore back today .. It’s a heavy heart for all . Few thoughts on parents in their old age , especially when you meet them after almost an year

Dad has definitely slowed down compared to Mom.. His walking, his reflexes etc.
I realised how thin our patience is with elderly people. It took me couple of days to adjust myself to their speed & not become impatient , especially when we travelled out. We need to slow down for them n remember our own kids when they were tiny. Parents become kids again
The most striking was Dad’s struggle with his denture while eating. Got it changed here & the joy of chewing food without pain was immense . Lesson to be learnt is look after your teeth well into your old age & of course, your general health as well,to the maximum extent possible

Newly married, my husband & I moved to a neglected land- holding that belonged to the family.

Besides a pump room, gardener’s room & our own two rooms there were 3 Neem trees, an unidentifiable hedge & a profusion of overgrowth - home to snakes & other creepy crawlies.
Soon with the Mali I began the exercise of clearing & cleaning one part of the land hoping to grow tuberoses ... that of course is another story ... of unrealistic expectations built on a 4-hour electric supply & water entirely dependent on it.

It was all so sorted for 70+ years.

One was associated with culture & the other, imparted education.
The receptacle however was to remain in a state of perpetual inadequacy & hence gratefulness.
But for a slow awakening & realisation in the followers of the oldest faith on earth that had for centuries made way, made place, through unimaginable violence & discrimination, that the only way out of the box was a combustion of civilizational revival & renaissance ……
or a slow but sure, cultural annihilation.

Thus returning to the very core of its beliefs that knowledge is the only true salvation & not mere unquestioning submission.
