What are they?

The 6 capabilities are a framework for observing players and recognising what their capabilities and developmental needs are.

All skills show an element of each of the 6 capabilities and allows coaches to coach individual skills in greater detail and depth.

In football, you need a strategy to win matches, especially special matches. You need sometimes to go against your philosophy to win a football match. The philosophy lost against the strategy!

โ€œThe worst thing in football is doubtโ€
PRINCIPALS OF PLAY
There are no good or bad coaches, just brave and unbrave. Winning is the exception. You have to do things to win.

Tactical Theory: The concept of the relay player

- different occupations on the field
- strategical benefits

@Sundayshare #SundayShare
[THREAD] Image
The major aim of football is to score goals. To achieve this, the ball needs to move forward and the fastest way to move the ball forward are passes.
However, it's not always possible to move forwards and not always the best way to create chances by passing forward. Sometimes, a team has to (or should) move sideways or even backwards. Therefore, a well-balanced structure is necessary for optimal ball circulation.

My #SundayShare is Odds and Evens without the Ball
Exercise Objectives:
This is a fun warm up to develop quick thinking and the reaction time of the players.
@SundayShare10 Image
Coaching Pointers:
Divide the group into pairs. Each pair is positioned face to face on the starting line. Using one mark a line 5
yards each side. The coach designates a name for each side; e.g. Right - Left, Odd - Even, Red - Green,
King - Queen, Apples Pears.
When the coach calls one of the names, the players race their partner to the side, in line with the cone
and back to the starting position. The first player back wins. The coach can vary the practice by having players
run the opposite side he calls. Also, perform with a ball.

Tactical Theory: Rethinking fullbacks

- various positions
- strategical advantages/disadvantages

@SundayShare10 #SundayShare

[THREAD] Image
The task of the conventional fullback was to defend. Back in the day, fullbacks were seen as the worst players on the pitch and often used as pressing triggers (e.g.: Sacchiโ€™s Milan). However, in the last couple of years, this view has changed.
Fullbacks arenโ€™t technically the worst players on the field anymore. Nowadays, even a lot of ex-midfielders such as Alaba, Lahm, or Zinchenko play(ed) in this role. Additionally, coaches like Guardiola saw the potential of the fullbacks in possession and created new positions.

Have you had any new players at your sessions inspired by their success?

Here are 6โƒฃ tips to keep them engaged โ€“ a thread ๐Ÿงต

#SundayShare | @SundayShare10
1โƒฃ Get to know them.

To create a session that engages your team, you need to get to know them as people. After all, whatโ€™s fun for one person might not be fun for someone else.
2โƒฃ Make time to chat.

Never assume that your team attend training just to play football.

Sessions offer a chance to connect with others. Theyโ€™re a great way for female players to make friends, build confidence and establish a sense of belonging.

The Three Shot Game Drill at #sundayshare
U16

Exercise Objectives:
This shooting drill is a great game to emphasize the importance of combining with a partner when going to goal. It also encourages quality runs and crosses.
@SundayShare10
#football #coaching #analysis
Coaching Pointers:
Divide your players into three groups and position as in the diagram above.
Two forwards start inside the field (players #2 and #3). They must be mobile and make intelligent runs.
Player #1 passes to either #2 or #3.
#tactical_trends
In this example; player #2 receives a pass and combines with his partner #3. Both players combine to get a shot on goal. Immediately after the strikers take a shot at goal, the right-sided midfielder attacks the space and crosses the ball for the 2 forwards. The forwards must now

Tactical Theory: The various ways to attract pressure in possession

- accessing space in between the lines
- getting in behind
- creating a free man

@SundayShare10 #SundayShare #Tactics

[THREAD]
Major aims in possession are getting in between the lines of the opponent and in behind. However, thatโ€™s what most defensive sides try to restrict by using a compact block with little space in between the lines and or a deep block to make it difficult to get in behind.
Defensive sides are getting better and better and offensive sides continuously fail to crack compact and or deep blocks. One way to access space in between the lines or in behind is by intentionally attracting pressure.

This thread analyses the various ways to lure pressure.

Diagonality is from immense importance in nearly every phase of the game, but still often undervalued.

This thread analyses the importance of diagonality both in and out of possession.
Offensive aspects:

To begin with, let's have a look on passing. There is usually a distinction between three types of passes: horizontal passes, vertical passes, and diagonal passes.

[THREAD]
Tottenham started the game pretty well in their basic 3-4-3 shape. ManCity wanted to press them in an aggressive 4-2-3-1. De Bruyne as the 10 marked the ball-near 6 and the ball-far winger tucked in to the ball-far 6.
But this wasnโ€™t always executed well at the beginning. The ball-far winger didnโ€™t tuck in enough at times. Moreover, the pressure on Tottenhamโ€™s back line wasnโ€™t high enough. Therefore, Tottenham was able to switch the play and access the open space ball-far.

Scoring goals is the most difficult part of football.

Movements that lead to goals are the hardest things to coach.

That got me thinking...how do elite forwards move off the ball and which ideas can I deliver to my players?

Hereโ€™s what I came up with.๐Ÿ‘‡

#SundayShare Thread
This thread presents the findings in my latest @TotalAnalysis Magazine piece, "Tactical Theory: The intelligent movements of elite attackers."

The article focuses on 3 forward player types: 1) deep-lying playmakers, 2) complete attackers, and 3) poachers.
To develop the spatial orientation and movement patterns, I turned to 10 of the gameโ€™s elite forwards.

The first group of players is the deep-lying playmakers, represented by Harry Kane, Lionel Messi, and Karim Benzema.

They're the stars of this thread.

Letโ€™s start with Kane.

Let's celebrate with a thread of Rondo designs that helped me to gain some followers back in the day. I still use adaptations of these Rondos today.

Rondo 1โƒฃ

4v2 Transition with screening player. A player can drop into the central zone to aid transition of the ball:

- Receive to play forward
- Bounce pass for someone else to play forward
- Movement may create a passing lane for the ball to go forward, bypassing them
Rondo 2โƒฃ

Two Rondos are running and we have 2 allocated Playmakers who need to be alert as either rondo can use them at anytime.

Progression shown: Implement a rotation on the Playmakers

Preparing practices for YOUR group (by "your" I am by no means suggesting that a coach owns these players, merely they will be who you with)

#Thread
1 - Who are they?
Consider age, experience, what they desire from playing football. Do they have a burning desire to progress? Are they beginning their journey? Are they Elite?
What is their CONTEXT?

Sampling
Participation
Performance
Elite

(These may intersect)
2 - Based on their context we also need to consider how much football they are involved in.
Is the session with you their only opportunity to PLAY all week?
Is the session with you one of many?
What those other sessions look like?
What can you give that they don't get elsewhere?
