@sherrylever I'm happy, @sherrylever. I wouldn't want such a Goddess to suffer. I'd much rather you were making me suffer*.

I live in Bedford. I took the X5 Bus to Oxford, yesterday. There was a Bus, I think it was the S6, going all the way to #Swindon!

* So I could prove my devotion!
@sherrylever @sherrylever I was thinking: If I came to you by Bus it would take me at least five hours to get to you & I'd be too exhausted to enjoy my surrender to you.

HOWEVER:

I'm guessing accommodation might not be too expensive in Swindon. I thought, if I booked two nights in a hotel
@sherrylever @sherrylever I could come to you on the intervening day, surrender to you, serve you, suffer for you & devote & dedicate myself to you, completely & utterly.

How does that sound?

It would take a little planning & saving but it would be worth it (for me)!

THREAD

At inaugural meeting of new Integrated Care Board (ICB), I raised concerns about integration w private sector, referencing analysis published in Lancet that outsourcing health care services to private sector had increased treatment mortality. #Bath

I stressed that the priority of private companies is to make a profit and that Integrated Care Systems (ICS) are a scheme that incentivise reduced care, referencing Panorama’s documentary about Operose Health exposing use of cheaper less qualified staff.

I asked if Board would commit to:

- recognising health & care staff trade unions and representative professional bodies, and work with them to improve staff pay, employment terms & conditions?

After long consideration I have decided to leave the town I grew up in.

Unfortunately it is a town without vision and is stuck in the past. Conversations with counselors, MPs, family and friends have led to my decision to leave #Swindon.

Here are 5 reasons why.
1. #Swindon without vision

For many years the council have been focused on large scale projects such as the 'snow dome' and new homes but has failed to maintain its heritage, culture and parks.

The council and councilors have grown complacent, putting politics over the town.
2. An apathetic #Swindon

Having grown up here and now spent most of my adult life here I can attest to the strong sense of apathy among residents in the town.

For this I blame the political bickering of the councilors and the complete lack of engagement from the council.

1. Here we see two iconic 20th century built structures. And #Swindon is blessed to have them both. In the background, towering majestically over everything is the divine David Murrray John Tower: swindonian.me/2017/08/19/dav… @C20Society #architecture #modernist
2. And in the foreground we have the dome of the Oasis: swindonian.me/2021/02/03/10-… #savetheoasis #swindonin50buildings
3. And of course there's also the listed Spectrum building and even the Link Centre. Certainly the former fits the definition of iconic - thus it featured in #swindonin50morebuildings - swindonian.me/2013/09/21/swi… #Swindon #building #20thcentury #architecture #architecturelovers

Delighted to see several community payback members mowing the grass around the back of the Oasis this morning. They will be there every week from now on. Let's hope this positivity continues and the Oasis is reopened not bulldozed. @SwindonCouncil @CllrDavidRenard @dale_heenan
