I've been wanting to look at some relevant data behind the new NSW restrictions

1. Tougher measures in LGAs of concern
2. Surveillance testing scrapped
3. Mandatory outdoor masks
4. Permits for authorised workers in LGAs of concern

#covid19aus #covid19nsw #sydneyprotest
1. Tougher measures in LGAs of concern (includes curfew and 1-hr exercise limit)

A few of us have been trying to show the huge Covid burden in certain communities for a while

Here's a new attempt. This chart shows daily cases in each LGA as a percentage of total cases that day
The big yellow one is Fairfield, Cumberland is purple, Canterbury-Bankstown is green

Below, all 12 LGAs of concern are removed

You can see in the last 5 weeks, they've accounted for about 90% of NSW cases (changed a bit recently - orange top right is Dubbo)

Boy oh boy are there a lot of cops out on the roads leading in to Melbourne CBD this morning. Saw two big roadblocks on a short bike around the outskirts this morning #Melbourne #melbourneprotest. Livestreams from #sydneylockdown #sydneyprotest also showing heavy police presence.
Some protesters have suggested using Waze to mark police presence for each other.
The plan in Melbourne seems to be to walk in from nearby places like Richmond or South Yarra.

🧵PROTESTS: ARE WE GETTING IT RIGHT?🦠

I’m probably going to get pelters in some quarters for this but I feel it needs to be said.

I’ve often defended the protest organisers, however, I feel yesterday they got it badly wrong in London. Damagingly so.
I’m going to tell you why👇🏻
When I attended the march back in April, the beauty was the sheer diversity of people in attendance (as I wrote about at the time).

June and July was the same. You don’t attract a diverse crowd like that by focusing on niche topics — you do it by targeting key central themes.
Themes like lockdown, like vaccine passports, and like bodily autonomy/mandatory vaccinations. Issues that have a solid foundation from which to argue our point of view; issues which, with some gentle persuasion, members of the public at large could/should get energised about.

1/ ***Thread - Freie Burger Kassel - the organisation behind #Melbourneprotest & #sydneyprotest ***
This is a very strange tale about the German organisation 'Freie Burger Kassel' and how from humble beginnings, this tiny outfit has spurred large scale protests around the world.
2/ The following is an absolute ride and I promise you the ending is worth hanging around for.
The protests that took place in Australia yesterday, were apart of a global day of "covid restrictions?" protests that occurred around the globe - "World wide demonstration 3.0" Image
3/ Each city has a uniform poster style, giving the appearance this is a centrally organised global effort. Notice the hashtag. Remind you of any other dangerous US psy op? So who is the group organising these mass protests simultaneously around the globe? Image

I was there when protesters were pepper sprayed at Central Station on Saturday night. I want to clarify what happened as details have been misrepresented.

The first and most important being the NSW Police’s assertion that the use of pepper spray was “appropriate”.

It was not.
Below is what I saw.

When I arrived at Central Station at 6.17pm, protesters were at the entry to platforms 16 to 25 chanting “no justice, no peace” and “too many cops, not enough justice,” using walls and the sides of bins to create noise.

It was loud. It was not violent.
Police then funnelled the group inside the building by forming an impenetrable line. Police also surrounded the Surry Hills Eddy Avenue exit.

Space became confined, tensions rose.

At 6.28, a protestor with a megaphone asked everyone to take a knee to diffuse the situation.
