1. Greatful to the @USCCB @bpdflores for facilitating today’s listening session with theologians on @Synod_va process (over 100 today) - I was very happy to see many friends from @theCTSA @CTStheology @ctewc - few lasting thoughts 1/7
2. I am filled with #gratitude for all the work that has gone into the #synod so far - while these listening sessions might have been organized earlier in the process, today’s event was well planned and facilitated
3. But where is theology in the #synod? The final North American report speaks a lot about the need for formation in synodality and even #Catholicsocialteaching (awesome!) but no mention of theologians or Catholic higher education - natural instruments for this formation

One of the primary objections to this "radical inclusion" Cardinal McElroy talks about is that it involves dispensing with the universal call to holiness – you know, that thing the most recent ecumenical Council of the Church spoke about at length in ch. 5 of «Lumen Gentium»...!

3/ All the incentives & structures of diocesan churches point that way—Oct counts, collection totals, school headcounts, etc. are perceived measures of vitality.

This is incredibly childish and I can't believe I'm needing to clarify this.... @SewellMartin is lying. Again. Mr Sewell has referenced me and my case constantly in the last few weeks - after he blocked me. He's now trying to claim I blocked him - I haven't. Screenshot proof here
I am not harassing anyone and I have never persecuted @MartynPercy. Mr Sewell is trying to characterise my justified critique of his petition as 'Oxford folk' 'pressuring' those who sign. This is not true. @SewellMartin please stop.
@SewellMartin is a General Synod Member for the @churchofengland. Another excellent example of why we need proper codes of conduct and accountability for @synod members.

@Pontifex also quoted Fr. Yves Congar (below, with a young Fr. Ratzinger), a progressive Dominican peritus (theological expert) at Vatican II, who "once said: 'There is no need to create another Church, but to create a different Church' (True and False Reform in the Church)." 3/4

First, we hear from Archbishop Albert Chama of the Church of the Province of Central Africa on the effects climate change is already having in this part of the world.
Next, Adam Matthews tells us about the TPI Initiative, which groups together big investors to try to pressure fossil fuel companies from the inside and says there has been serious progress over the last few years. 'We are seeing signs of transition'.
Over the next two weeks, leading up to the Church of England's debate on #divestment on 8 July, we'll be looking at the issue in depth: the arguments, facts and figures.
