Can't believe I haven't posted about it yet, but I am a diehard fan the #TWA hotel's architecture and design. Located at JFK, it is repurposed from the TWA Flight Center days as a terminal. I spent a weekend there a few years ago, and I routinely go back to oogle at my photos...
The original architect Eero Saarinen hoped to capture the "spirit of flight" in the construction of the terminal. In the remodel we see these original characteristics preserved with a magnificent mid-century modern interior merged in by the awesome @StonehillTaylor
The terminal's main hall has such a cool retro futuristic vibe with the vaulted ceilings and curved concrete. I love the dedication to a red/white color scheme, a tribute to the original TWA logo. Just imagine the hustle and bustle here...

This week, the iconic 1960s #TWA Flight Center designed by legendary architect Eero Saarinen reopened as a hotel @JFKairport in New York.

Before achieving fame as a master of American 20th-century architecture, Eero worked for #OSS, our #WWII spy agency.

During #WWII, Eero was recruited to #OSS & appointed Chief of Special Exhibits Section.

He designed:
- Military schools & situation rooms
- 3D org chart instrumental in showing procedure & work-flow problems throughout #OSS
- Model weapons for training & film props Image
OSS considered Eero “the most versatile & gifted young designer & architect in this country.”

His work for #OSS was highly commended by Undersecretary of War, Director of Women’s Army Corps, & many others.

His OSS experience & experiments are reflected in his later design work. Image
