Let's take a look at @onusgame by @DracoIdeasEN. Basically a #miniatures #tabletop #wargame - but with cards instead of actual minies. #boardgames

I came across ONUS! after beeing introduced to Blücher which can also be played with unit cards. The low entry barrier is appealing!
Welcome to the ancient world. Today I'll try a random #PeloponnesianWar inspired battle solo, both armies with slightly over 1.000pts.

Athenians under Themistocles bring a strong left wing with some Thessalian Mercenary Cavalry, standard Hoplites covered by Peltast on the right.
While the Spartans under Agesilaus II bring lots of Helots, their superior Hoplites and a cavalry wing.

I've adjusted the random setup line into a formation that makes more sense to me.

Beware, it is my first session and I might very likely make some mistakes here and there.

Alright. I'll bite and try to give some kind of guideline to help you run megadungeons for #dnd5e (well, any #tabletop). General principles, at the very least.
- A thread -
There needs to be several reasons for your PCs to explore the place beyond "cool loot." While players LOVE loot, they don't want to, well, have their PC die.
CURIOSITY can be one of those things. "What new aspect of this story waits in the next level/room?"
That is how your PLOT (a dungeon, like any story, needs to have a plot or plot beats) should function. What about this megadungeon will drive my players to go INTO IT not OUT OF IT. "You're at the bottom fight your way out" is lazy and uninspired.

Tell me (and the world) about a #Tabletop RPG that isn't #DnD. Tell us why it's awesome and why it should be played. It has to fit in a single tweet. Images and/or store links welcome.

Let's spread the word about the diversity of #ttrpg out there. Post your favorites & retweet!

There is a lot of things to be excited about in the #tabletop #rpg games hobby. As much as we need to be critical of text, and folks making games, there's a lot to be thankful for as well. Particular if you're privileged enough to have a gaming group where you can try new stuff.
Being a part of the @GauntletRPG has allowed me to play 50 systems this year. 50!!!! Roll20 forums and in-person groups in Calgary, Alberta had me fucking starving for other systems because all anyone played with Saga Star Wars, Pathfinder, and D&D--and those games aren't for me.
In any given week I play 3 different systems and bi-monthly I playtest my own games, usually. When I'm not writing, anyway. There are so many games, especially indie games, I'm excited for and so much on the Gauntlet schedule that I'm looking forward to.
