Update: The Guantanamo Bay base commander says the outpost of 6,000 residents is still #COVID19 free.

Passengers report another 60 or so troops, family members, others arrived at the outpost today from Jacksonville — with their temperatures taken before takeoff and on landing. Image
Capt. John Fisher, Gitmo commanding officer, to base residents: “This situation is unprecedented in recent history... The events of these last few weeks have caused uncertainty, and maybe even fear, for many of our families... Guantánamo Bay is a strong, resilient community...”
For now, seating at Guantanamo’s outdoor movie theaters is limited to every other row. Families can sit together but three seats away from other families.

Also, the social welfare programming division has begun to cancel or postpone some typical Gitmo community events... Image

on this day five years ago I moved to Cambridge, Massachusetts. I have lived here now longer than anywhere else since I left for college at 18, and now @CambMA really feels like my home. I love this city so much.
@CambMA so, in tribute, I am going to spend today tweeting out some of my favorite things about & places in #Cambridge. this feels especially important to do as so much has changed since I moved here in 2014.
@CambMA it is painful to see so many out-of-state big money corporate developers coming into Cambridge & Boston and tearing down historic buildings, kicking out small, local businesses, and putting up the same fugly Lego-looking condos.
