Tatarstan THREAD. #RussiaDecolonized

This is the first thread in a series focusing on the potential independence of Russian regions. Our analysis examines their geography, history, and freedom movements to assess the likelihood of attaining autonomy. Image
HISTORY

Tatarstan was an independent Kazan Khanate since the 15th century when the Golden Horde fragmented. The territory of the Kazan Khanate included parts of other modern republics and regions such as the Chuvash Republic and Bashkortostan. /1 Image
In the 16th century, Ivan the Terrible, the Tsar of Russia, launched a military campaign against the Khanate of Kazan. After a prolonged siege, Kazan fell to Muscovy in 1552. The conquest resulted in the incorporation of Tatarstan into the Tsardom of Muscovy. /2 Ivan IV under the walls of ...

Wednesday 10 May
Day 441 of this terrible war.
At least #Ukraine has woken relatively peacefully today in contrast to most recent days.

All the news on #Russia's invasion, all day in one thread. If you want to buy me a coffee please see my bio for the link💙💛
So y'day was another violent & busy day as #Russia celebrated Victory Day but with zero victory to salute in its illegal invasion of #Ukraine

More deaths by fire, setbacks in #Bakhmut and #Wagner being labelled terrorists by more countries. Catch up here:
#Russia's losses in the last 24 hours show a marked decrease in he amount of equipment destroyed compared to the recent trend.

However, #Ukraine is killing more and more soldiers as Russians continue kamikaze tactics in #Donetsk with the one resource they have plenty of: people. Image

And so begins Day 416 of the wretched war.
Bloodthirsty #Russia continues its illegal assault and attempt to destroy #Ukraine.

You've found the start of another daily thread with all the news.

As I'm search/shadowbanned please reply to this (write anything) and retweet to help!
Friday was quite a busy one, unfortunately the news led by another Terrorist Attack by #Russia.

But there was also the surprise of seeing Prigozhin call for an end to the war, and lots more interesting stuff.

Catch up here:

The #UK thinks #Russia's new laws on being able to deliver call-ups via email or text, indicate the Kremlin is preparing for a long war in #Ukraine.

This concurs with most experts' views as the invaders continue to build defences in the Occupied Territories. Image

I wonder if Navalny will recognize borders of #Tatarstan as well.
On August 30, 1990, Tatarstan declared its sovereignty with the Declaration on the State Sovereignty of the Tatar Soviet Socialist Republic and in 1992 Tatarstan held a referendum on the new constitution.

In the 1992 Tatarstan Constitution, Tatarstan is defined as a Sovereign State. They did that according to soviet law and UN charter. But Russia ignored that, russian court decided Tatarstan is Russia. In 2002 russia introduced in their constitution that Tatarstan is Russia.2/4
On December 20, 2008, in response to Russia recognizing Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the Milli Mejlis of the Tatar People organization declared Tatarstan independent and asked for United Nations recognition. However, this declaration was ignored both by the United Nations and

‼️“Their motto is: we fight to the last soldier, and then they will send new ones,”

— those mobilized from Tatarstan wrote down an appeal in which they said that their unit was placed under the leadership of the “DPR”, which sends them “to be slaughtered”.

“We are ...
...regiment 1231 from Tatarstan. We were handed over to the leadership of the "DNR". The local leadership does not care about us, we are here as expendable material. Their motto is: we fight to the last soldier, and then they will send new ones.

Arriving here, we were ....
...scattered by 6 people into different units, they took away all the equipment and humanitarian aid from us. On February 5, we were sent to storm without any preparation. <…>

It's Sunday 29 January, but also Day 340 of #Russia's war on its peaceful neighbour.

It's been a crazily busy evening. Both in #Ukraine and #Iran.

Welcome to the daily thread. Here's the link if you need a catch-up on yesterday's events:

Also, I ended up doing a separate thread on #Iran where drones, explosions, fires and earthquakes were all to the fore.

Here's where I tried to keep track of what is/was going on:

One of the big developing stories last night was the alleged attack on occupied #Ilovaisk.

In 2014 unarmed #Ukraine soldiers, given "safe passage" by #Russia were ruthlessly gunned down in Ilovaisk.

This video supposedly shows some of the 7 HIMARS strikes on the train station.

Sunday 30 Oct and this is the first post in the daily thread covering events in #Ukraine.

Day 249 of #Russia's war

For all yesterday's news on an extraordinary day, scroll through here:

There's still no firm information about y'day's incident in #Sevastopol

Best guess is that three ships were hit in the suspected drone attack in #Crimea.

The Admiral Makarov is still suspected to be damaged along with frigate Admiral Hryhorovych and minesweeper "Ivan Golubets"
Seems like only yesterday #Russia's losses on the battlefield* hit 70,000 and today 71,000

Easily a new record number of #Putin's troops dying in a single day. The numbers helped by the massive strike on a Wagner unit near Bakhmut.

Yesterday, Putin announced partial mobilisation of his population to fight in #Ukraine. In this thread, I'll be collecting all the Twitter proof that points to the disproportionate mobilisation of indigenous populations colonised by #russia, which is racist & colonial AF🧵
Let's kick off with this viral video from #Dagestan, located in North Caucasus and colonised by russia. Indigenous populations being sent to their death thanks to #RussianColonialism, again.
And straight to #Buryatia, where male students are taken straight out of classes. This indigenous nation tried to leave #RussianColonialism in 20th c. but russians came and slaughtered tens of thousands of people (source on this always @maksymeristavi.)

We've reached Day 210 of #Russia's 3 day plan to topple #Kyiv.
#Ukraine fights on.

If you want to scroll through yesterday's news, it's here:

#StandWithUkraine

The important thing to say is that President Putin is making his delayed (recorded) speech now about the future of the illegal war
Putin announced only a partial mobilisation, which is what I suspected.

So anyone who's on the reserve will be called up due to #Russia's shortage of cannon fodder.

This is Thursday's thread with news, views, analysis on #Russia's unprovoked war in #Ukraine, updated throughout the day.

Day 204 starts with a recap of the main story which broke very late last night:
🇺🇦President Zelenskyy is ok despite a car crash

The other big story was #Russia's deliberate bombing of a dam, trying to flood #Ukraine's 7th biggest city, #KrivyiRih (RU: #KrivoyRog)

It's the home town of President @ZelenskyyUa
Late in the evening authorities evacuated houses of those living closest to the river.

I hope you get the chance for a peaceful and relaxing Sunday. That's something many thousands in #Ukraine haven't had for almost 6 months.

It's Day 172 of #Russia's invasion and here's the daily thread with all the news and analysis you need, updated throughout the day⬇️
Quite a bit of late action on yesterday's thread. You can scroll through yesterday's thread here if you need a catch up:

Potentially good news from @amnesty

The organisation's pledged to have its' "#Ukraine report" examined by independent experts.

Amnesty International says it "wants to understand what exactly went wrong" according to Deutsche Welle.

Appointing @AgnesCallamard perhaps?

Welcome to August. Welcome to Daily thread number 159 documenting #Russia's war on #Ukraine.

Good news already to report today - Ukrainian grain has finally been allowed to leave #Odesa.

All the news, all day, every day, right here. Read on⬇️

So a Sierra Leone flagged ship, named Razoni has left #Odesa this morning.

#Turkiye/#Turkey made the announcement and has said the ship will be in #Istanbul tomorrow. After inspection it will head to #Lebanon.

#StandWithUkraine Image
Here is video of the ship, loaded with #Ukraine's grain, leaving #Odesa/#Odessa.

Many other ships are lined up to follow.

But let's not forget this is NOT happening due to Russia's goodwill. It's because The Kremlin is allowed to export goods and Kaliningrad was unblocked.

It's Tuesday 12 July - or Day 139 of #Russia's four day operation to seize #Kyiv.

#Ukraine continues to survive and more than that, genuinely fight back.

This is the place for all the news and analysis of the war. Read on...
I'll start with the British Intel update because it touches upon #Russia's alternative ways of recruiting fighters:

#StandWithUkraine #StopRussia
The previous tweet reminds me of this video I saw a couple of days ago.

This purports to be recruitment for the Wagner Group inside a jail. It's said they promise an amnesty after six months of war, regardless of the charge.
