My Favourite Top 15 Tamil films of 2021 👇🏻. #Karthicdm #Karthicdm_Reviews #Tamilcinema #Kollywood
15. #KamalifromNadukaveri
Sincere attempt of feel good film with a good message. Casting and performance were good. But cliched scenes and weak screenplay in second half were let downs. more like a educational movie. High school students and their parents can watch.
14. #Teddy New attempt for tamil cinema. Decent songs and good acting. lack of creativity and weak script were major cons. Decent fantasy comedy entertainer. one time watchable.

(1) #HWstormwatch update 5.30pm EDT Thursday.

#Wilfred will likely be the name of the storm currently brewing in the Gulf. NHC says it will move NNE, which is bad news for the US Gulf coast.

#Alpha will probably be the name of the orange storm below. Future track uncertain.
(2) Post tropical storm #Sally still has a few more days of heavy rain for the Carolinas, Virginia and maybe other states. Flooding in AL and FL will take a while to go away. Please keep these & #Laura folk in your prayers, and donate if you can.

#Vicky is remnants now.
(3) Weatherfolk and Democrats are trying to talk up the danger from an above-average hurricane season but always do your own fact checking, esp. when someone is trying to provoke fear.

Most recent Atlantic storms were never a threat to the US. Numbers tell only half the story.

I've seen some understandable comparisons between #Teddy's future and Hurricane Sandy (2012), so let me discuss how they're a bit similar, and also why they're different.

Sandy was known for its significant G(E)FS vs EC track splits, where the latter correctly had a "left hook"
2) Conventional wisdom said the EC was right because of (a) higher resolution, and/or (b) better data assimilation. Many still believe these things about Sandy.

But, you can get "correct" Sandy tracks with GEFS initial conditions+90 km grid+EC physics: agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.10…
3) I showed why in the follow-up paper - the GFS' cumulus parameterization (CP) was built such that it could only respond to what was occurring near the tropical ocean surface, and thus couldn't "feel" the approaching upper trough, which limited phasing.

#Sally is expected to strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall tonight in Louisiana. The worst of the storm surge, heavy rain, strong winds will be on the east side of the center of circulations. 10-20 inches of rainfall will be life threatening along the coast. ImageImageImageImage
We are also watching #Paulette moving over Bermuda, #Teddy will strengthen in the Atlantic while #Rene is weakening. Wildfire danger is ongoing across the West with high heat, low humidity, dry conditions and gusty winds. Smoke advisories are also up for several states. ImageImageImageImage

(1) Gather round for tonight's #HWstormwatch update. Getting to be too much info for one tweet at the moment.

For now, if you're in the states that are usually affected, you should be checking the forecast at least daily, if not twice a day.

(2) The X is where the storm is today. The circle is where it is forecast to be in 5 days' time.

The yellow one is going to move away from the US, phew. The orange one will likely end up getting a name. #Sally #Teddy or #Vicky. Image
(3) Storms develop and worsen quickly in the Gulf. So keep watch, if you are there.

In the recent #HurricaneLaura, at least one person died 200 miles inland, from a tree falling on their home.

So the risk these days can go far inland.

BREAKING: @NOAA has updated their 2020 Hurricane Season forecast, increasing their predicted number of storms and hurricanes ⬇️ Image
@NOAA On the lowest end of the predicted spectrum, storm #19 would be #Teddy. However, if we surpass the 21 names available, we begin to use the Greek alphabet to name storms.

#25 would be #Epsilon.
@NOAA The last time this became necessary was in 2005, a truly devastating year that included Hurricane #Katrina.
