🤶Dear Santa: Please, we need some Public Private Partnerships in ##Westchester for Christmas and the Covid Surge! Can you transfer some #privatesector elves to help @westchestergov provide free, accessible (by mass-transit and by drive through) rapid #PCR #testing Also, 1/6
🎅for stocking stuffers, how about enough seven-piece packages of rapid #antigen #testing for home use, available by mail or at local #health departments or local houses of worship or even by #reindeer for every #Westchester resident, free, upon request? Also, 2/6
🎅maybe Mrs. Claus can come on down to speed up our county health department to get #TestToStay rolling in our 40 #publicschool districts? It's been too much talk and no action. Finally, just want you to know, 3/6

CDC is recommending #TestToStay. But focuses only on the unvaccinated. Breakthrough cases of vaccinated people jumped 64% suddenly recently in Northern Virginia. We need to ramp up RAPID testing for ALL kids, vaxed and unvaxed, who are exposed to COVID.
Short additional 🧵: There are important qualities of such a #TestToStay program that APS would need to emulate. Can't pick and choose, get same results.

#1 - The kid who got exposed limited exposure b/c both parties WORE MASKS. Eliminate masks, gotta quarantine 'cuz certain 🤮.
#2 - No symptoms ever developed. Had to agree to either 2 (LA) or 4 (Lake County) tests, or go quarantine at home.

#3 - For "close contact" #TestToStay kids, mask wearing was required everywhere: indoors, outdoors, on bus. They didn't go to extracurriculars or after school care. Image

1/ Re: Rapid Antigen Tests - Are you confused after today's BC COVID-19 press conference?

Let's take a deeper dive
2/ Firstly, it is important to understand that not everyone infected with COVID-19 is infectious (capable of transmitting to others):

BLUE = Infected
RED = Infectious subset
3/ During the course of an infection, the viral load changes. Most people are infectious for a brief period of time:

Is daily testing needed @statesdj ? In CA we test close contacts every three days, a negative test on day 6 and no further testing required.

In Georgia: Student close contacts continue attending school w/no symptoms & test negative every day for 7 days.…
More states doing what CA doing...
" a number of school districts are turning to testing to keep more children in the classroom & avoid disrupting the work lives of their parents. The resource-intensive approach — sometimes known as “test to stay” or modified quarantine
@CDCgov says that it “does not have enough evidence” to support the test to stay/modified quarantine approach. Instead, it recommends that close contacts who have not been fully vaccinated quarantine for as long as 14 days.
