NEW TEXAS THREAD 2/12: Overall, sorry to say Texas leads the nation in COVID-19 cases. We would probably also lead the nation in COVID-19 deaths were it not for the March-April epidemic that hit New York after the virus entered from Europe in Jan-Feb
NEW TEXAS THREAD 3/12: We're now seeing a new and massive surge, number of new confirmed cases again hitting 10,000 as it did over the summer, except this time it's going to continue. Also now deaths starting to increase
Latest #TexasCovid19 deaths: Mr. President the nation needs you to lead a #COVID19 response. It's actually not that difficult. With a concerted evidence-based effort we can bring the entire nation back to containment mode in a few weeks, then open schools, colleges, even the NFL
There's really no alternative Mr. President, if you don't take bold action and lead, the numbers will rise to the point where every American will know someone sick or dying in the hospital with #COVID19, the economy will collapse, and our nation will become vulnerable.
#COVID19 has become an urgent national security issue. I'm happy to help you...this is very doable. It's just some RNA stuffed inside a little fat with spike proteins. It's an old school problem in virology, we can do this. But if we don't take action now the nation will tank

2/ BUT that doesn't mean biz that reopened will close: @GregAbbott_TX "We are focused on strategies that slow the spread of this virus while also allowing Texans to continue earning a paycheck to support their families. The last thing we want to do as a state is go backwards..."

Here are 3 pics of 106 mostly smaller Texas counties that have seen 30% OR MORE of their total case numbers be reported in the past 10 days.
The columns are County name, population, cases 3/1 thru 6/13, cases 6/14 thru 6/23, and % of total in the last 10 days

If you add these counties cases in the past 10 days up, and take out the big number from Travis County, you have 14,313 cases reported in these smaller counties in 10 days. That is 41.65% of the total of 34,359 cases reported for the entire state of Texas

Well NO Mr. President this is simply not true. Even if we never did another #COVID19 test across the communities of America, this won't hide a steep terrifying rise in #TexasCOVID19 hospitalizations and ICU admissions in our @TXMedCenter. We now face a public health crisis
My interpretation of this (otherwise inexplicable) email and recent actions: Is the White House telling us that they've run out of ideas and are more or less giving up on #COVID19? Are the new rallies in cities where COVID19 now accelerating the beginnings of a farewell tour?
My hope expectation is that the opposition soon articulates a detailed strategy for #COVID19 recovery including metro area predictive models, expanded contact tracing, syndromic surveillance embracing Silicon Valley technology, fixing Operation Warp Speed, & a communications plan
