Dave Chappelle and I live in the same village: Yellow Springs, Ohio. I don’t know him. We’re merely co-residents among 3,900 or so others in that same small town. (Though typically Dave’s the only one new acquaintances ask me about when I mention where I’m from.) 🧵
By the way, this is going to be a ridiculously long thread and I’m warning you about that right now. So if you decide to read it, don’t act like you didn’t know what you were getting into.

When I was younger, I saw a handful of movies Dave appeared in. Villagers would sometimes say things like, “I went to a party with that guy from Men in Tights when he was in YS for the summer one time.” Which I guess seemed like a vaguely interesting piece of local trivia. 🤷

I do not expect anyone to have compassion for the person who has their boot on your neck. But if you know me, then you know I expect it of myself.

When I hear @DaveChappelle out, I hear guilt suppression for any part he played in Daphne Dorman tragically taking her own life.
Dave and other comedians (particularly men) want to live in a word where their jokes don't have consequences (*for them), just like every single bully who has made it their pet project to ridicule transgender and other queer people for our entire lives.

I'm not claiming Dave was solely responsible for Daphne Dorman's death.

Rather, our society is not hospitable to trans people, and when a trans person chooses to take their own life, it is the culminating act of suffering millions of wounds, whether perceptible or unseen.

In #TheCloser Dave Chappelle touched on a problem with gender ideology that women have been pointing out for years; it is a belief system which allows straight, white men to co-opt the oppression of every other group: ethnic minorities, women, and the gay community.

Those who are co-opting the oppression of other groups are often simultaneously sexually aroused by subordination, even as they leverage it to gain their narcissistic supply.

Gender ideology is built on sadomasochism and dissociation, and pornography plays a central role. Image
Moore's profile says, "Used to be a sex worker". Gender ideology supports legalization of sex trafficking, of commodifying the body, in no small part because it enables men to be 'treated like a woman', which so often means being treated like a sex object.
