1/ Ever wondered how the 4th industrial revolution (#AI, robotics, and big data) is reshaping healthcare? šŸ„ šŸš€
Let's dive into some fascinating facts and insights I found in the #book "Deep Medicine" by @EricTopol
2/ šŸ’»šŸ‘Øā€āš•ļø Electronic Medical Records (EMR) are mostly designed for billing, not for physicians' ease of use, contributing to doctor burnout šŸ˜©
How can we leverage #AI to improve the EMR and serve both purposes effectively? #HealthIT
3/ā±ļø Did you know? If physicians make a #diagnosis within 5 minutes, they have a 95% chance of getting it right (System 1 thinking). This rate can drop to 25% afterward!
How can we harness #AI to assist in faster, more accurate diagnosis?

Many people with mental health conditions rely on medications to manage their symptoms, but these medications often come with metabolic side effects like weight gain, type 2 diabetes, and sexual side effects. (1/8)
Many people complain of feeling less "bad" but also emotionally flat. As someone who does couples therapy, I can tell you these side effects come into the session with the couple.
There are costs to these side effects. (2/8)
In addition to the financial cost of medications, these side effects can come at a high quality-of-life cost, which is why many people don't stay on them, even when they're helpful. (3/8)

I don't know who needs to hear this, but the restriction of carbohydrates does not = an eating disorder (1/6) #realtalk #therapist #mentalhealthcounselor
It is an evidence-based and strategic nutritional intervention to rescue mood, cognitive functioning, and basically all-around metabolic function. (2/6)
Some people will need to restrict carbohydrates to treat chronic illnesses of the brain and the body. And they don't need misinformed mental health counselors scaring them and telling them they are going to develop an eating disorder. (3/6)

"When we (@Metabolic_Mind) mention mental illness we're referring to severe
#depression #bipolar disorder or
#schizophrenia. But everything we say also may have applied to #ADD #OCD #anxiety moderate depression, #PTSD and more." (1/12)
@Metabolic_Mind I have seen it SIGNIFICANTLY improve or lead to remission in literally all of these disorders in my private practice and via my online Brain Fog Recovery Program. (2/12) #therapists #counselors #mentalhealthcounselor
@Metabolic_Mind It's ok to have hope that you can feel better. When you are suffering from any of these disorders, hope is a little scary. You don't want to be disappointed. Sometimes it's easier to practice acceptance of how you are feeling. (3/12) #hope #spoons #chronicillness

One thing I have seen weaponized against those who are marginalized and have experienced harm at those in positions of ā€˜leadershipā€™ is the anger expressed. So very easy for #physicians, #researchers, #therapists, #counselors to point to the anger & exclaim ā€˜see how unbalanced 1/
this person is?ā€™, ā€˜see how ill they are?ā€™. When people are in positions where they have been harmed, where they have watched loved ones be harmed & it continues re of their voices, of their pleas for help, when those that are ā€˜supposeā€™ to help ignore the harms & gaslight 2/
#anger, to me, is a normal response. Yet many professionals use this instead to illustrate how ā€˜unstableā€™ a person or community is. NEVER do I condone threats or physical harm to anyone yet I have seen the #gaslighting of a group of or individual that has been viscerally 3

Notes from my book: Receiving many messages, DMā€™s & emails over ā€˜safeguardingā€™. I have worked in this industry for 30 years. Safeguarding chapter: #MentalHeath professionals are human & make mistakes, because they are human. They are first & fore-mostly trained in #safeguarding
Their ethos is to ā€˜Do No Harmā€™. Most people donā€™t understand what this means. #Therapists & mental health professionals disagree on many issues. They are divided on what safeguarding means to them #Childsafety & #childprotection have always been fraught by #childsafety challenges
In 2015, I began raising #safeguarding concerns with My regulatory board & the #psychology organisations. These were serious concerns. Over those years, I was ignored, brushed off, #silenced or told it wasnā€™t a problem. The Australian Senate held an #inquiry into our regulatory

Involving children in your paraphilliac transvestism fetishism is, at best, a non-contact sexual offence and a safeguarding issue. Involving children in your tranvestitie fetishism is a safeguarding issue. Need I go on #safeguarding @children
Our very basic response to is that paraphilias emerge when masturbation fantasies become addictive & uncontrolled & therefore do not naturally occur in pre pubescent boys who have yet to masturbate? Why are sexualised behaviours in pre pubescent boys not seen as red flags? #abuse
I donā€™t understand this. Why are #therapists clinicians and #psychologists not be trained that safeguarding is a part of their job! Why arenā€™t children being safeguarding by clinicians? It is your job! #childsafety

Why do all therapists need to know how to talk respectfully about sexuality and gender identity? I was interviewed for a podcast for the first time and was asked this question, but I found myself tripping over my words! So here goes #TherapistsConnect 1/
Firstly, #therapy research shows that #LGBTQ plus and other Gender, Sex and Relationship Diverse (GSRD) people tend to self-censor in therapy and assume that talking about sexuality and gender identity is "off limits". Why is this? 2/
Well, #LGBTQ plus people grow up surrounded by #homophobia, #biphobia and #transphobia (yes, it still exists folks, both in the UK and in other contexts). Most of us internalise it to some extent, and many learn to protect ourselves by staying quiet about "being different". 3/

I am ready to talk about the #silencing of over 25,000 psychologists in Australia with regards to the safeguarding of children. We are threatened, harassed, coerced to provide only one #therapy to children or else! They tried to force me into this I said NO. Any journalists???
I am ready to talk to journalists, lawyers, bloggers and am now writing a book on this topic/issue. I am ashamed of my colleagues and the board who wilfully ignore the immature prefrontal cortex, the autistic brain, and their own ethics and guidelines #rogd #gender #transgender
I have not been able to speak openly about this until now as I have been continually #silenced, harassed, threatened, coerced by other #psychologists #therapists, my board, governing agencies and other professionals. Itā€™s time to reveal what is happening to clinicians worldwide

I am trained in #developmental #psychology and #neuroscince. I have been screaming the #teenagebrain is #underreconstruction from the rooftops! Am totally ashamed of my peers who wilfully ignore this. #neuroplasticity #frontallobes #psychologists #gender #rogd #trans #detrans
The teenage brain is under reconstruction. The prefrontal cortex is not fully developed until minimum aged 25. A bit longer for males. The prefrontal cortex is largely responsible for: decision making, planning, organisation, focusing, impulsivity, aka executive functions
Managing emotions, predicting consequences of oneā€™s choices and moderating social behaviour. This is #science #facts Anyone who says otherwise is brainwashed by #ideology Shame on any professional who ignores this #gender #trans #detrans #shame

Interesting client. She has seen 1 psychiatrist and 2 therapists and was not satisfied with them.

She: All #therapists are such @R$eholes.
Me: Why?
She:They are so full of themselves
Me: Go on....
She:I know more than them
Me: I noticed that
She:Tell me what is DBT
Me:Show me
And that broke the ice.

I am just so glad that I wl be working with her - this one is going to challenge me, make me reach deep within myself. Not many clients make you do that.

Quite looking forward to just listening and facilitating + the occasional challenge thrown her way.
She raised an imp point though. Many therapists focus too much on their own agenda, method, theoretical favorites etc despite clear evidence that a client's inner world is the best place to start things off fm. We need to 1st tune in to discover which approach works w/ which client.
