Different from other years on this #Tiananmen30 June 4, is that Chinese state media is actually mentioning #Tiananmen on online channels but uses it as an occasion to push Party propaganda with Tiananmen as a symbol of Chinese pride instead of representing Chinese amnesia. [1/3]
Another difference is the message that's specifically directed at the English-language social media sphere, one being from Hu Xijin/Global Times, that stresses that Chinese people "don't want to obsess about the incident anymore."[2/3]
Quoting: "Its bloody ending gradually forgotten. Since then China has taken a successful development path, giving people a more rational perspective on the movement." These same messages are not to be found on Chinese social media. Erasing is not the same as forgetting. [3/3]
