2/ I like Rabbi Dr. @NatanSlifkin's nuance to what "sinat chinam" - normally translated as "baseless hatred" - means. It's hatred that brings no gain; it's hurting yourself in order to hurt your perceived enemy more.

3a/ OTOH, this story by Dinah Paritzky is horrifying. Not only is it cruel & abusive, not only can the lesson be taught in less violent means, it's the wrong lesson! The impulse to concentrate on the physical building is #Literalist, as is the cruel act.

En el año 1869, el famoso escritor norteamericano, Mark Twain visitó la Tierra de Israel y registró sus periplos en el libro: "Una placentera excursión a Tierra Santa". Su descripción es estremecedora, un lugar inhóspito y desolado. "Fue como asistir a un velorio pero sin muerto"
Por el contrario, todo el que tuvo el mérito de visitar Israel en las últimas décadas, se ha encontrado con un país pujante, una infraestructura de primer mundo, una economía en sólido crecimiento (descartando la actual pandemia) y a la vanguardia del desarrollo tecnológico.
Hoy es #TuBeAv, fecha que marca desde los comienzos de nuestra historia como pueblo, la restauración del vínculo entre #Israel y Dios.

Luego de salir de Egipto y acercándose el pueblo de Israel a la tierra de Canaán (futura tierra de Israel) bajo el liderazgo de Moshe, optaron por mandar espías a la tierra para organizar la conquista.
Los espías volvieron el día 9 de av con un reporte adverso y el pueblo, en contra de la garantía Divina de conquista fácil, creyeron en el reporte y desistieron de entrar en la tierra prometida. Ellos lloraron sin motivo, ese día fue fijado como día de llanto eterno: #TishaBeAv.
Estamos en vísperas del día más triste del calendario judío, el 9° día del mes de av. Suele ser un día de ayuno y reflexión pero este año coincide con #shabat así que es un poco diferente. Sale un #hilo sobre las leyes y costumbres de #TishaBeAv en #shabat.
La fuerza de #shabat es superior a la del ayuno x lo que se permite comer libremente en este día, incluso carne y vino que son las comidas q generalmente provocan mayor alegría. El ayuno comienza al terminar shabat (puesta del sol del sábado) y dura hasta el anochecer del domingo
El día viernes se puede bañar con agua caliente y jabón como de costumbre (ashkenazim lo hacen por partes para reducir el goce que provoca el baño). Se puede también: cortar la uñas, limpiar la casa, poner un mantel limpio en la mesa y vestir la ropas de #shabat.
