The artist and satirist network "Schuppen 68" wants to burn 68 rolls of toilet paper in various places in Hanover in protest against the impending hamster purchases as a result of the corona pandemic.
According to a survey, around ten percent of all consumers, especially younger people, wanted to stock up on toilet paper, pasta and other everyday goods in Germany in the coming weeks, said network spokesman Klaus-Dieter Gleitze on Monday in Hanover:
"Hamster purchases are as superfluous as a goiter, that has been shown by all experiences from the first Corona phase. "

According to a survey, around every tenth consumer in Germany wants to stock up on toilet paper, pasta and other everyday goods in the coming weeks.
This was the result of a representative survey by the polling institute YouGov among almost 6000 people in mid-October. Accordingly, nine percent of the participants answered the corresponding question with “yes” or “more or less yes”.

Hamster purchases are being made again in the first German supermarkets. The reason is probably the increasing corona numbers.
For example, the managing director of a Wuppertal Edeka family reported a massive increase in the demand for kitchen rolls, toilet paper and long-lasting foods such as pasta or flour. Aldi Süd is also now registering a change in buying behavior.
“We are currently seeing a slight increase in demand for individual products in our branches for the first time, including toilet paper,” said a company spokesman for “Wirtschaftswoche”.
