The 3-day finale of #yyccc 2017-2021 was lit!!! It’s hard to believe the writers were able to get so many great things resolved. Also, so many cool things have been set up for the next show: 2021-2025 (which will start filming on Oct 18). Here’s my recap of the highlights: 1/24

The finale opened w emotion: 1) #yyc-based members of the #TokyoOlympics/#TokyoParalympics #teamcanada were honored. 2) tributes to the retiring members of #yyccc, @DruhFarrell @EWoolleyWard8 @ChahalGeorge @Ward4Ward1 @CouncillorKeats & @nenshi, induced tears & good vibes. 2/24

While Dinesh Herath’s world class performance brought honor to our country and region, I noticed some had questioned the legitimacy of this win, questioned his disability and some reached out to me for clarification. Here are few things I'd like to share,

1) When you hear the word disability, you immediately think of someone who uses a wheelchair, a hearing aid, a white cane, and so on. However, did you know that not all disabilities are visible? Invisible disabilities, or hidden disabilities are primarily neurological in nature.

Chronic pains, chronic fatigue, long term depression/ anxiety, schizophrenia, autism, ADHD, HIV/AIDS, diabetes and etc. So, the gentle reminder here is that ‘Not All Disabilities Are Visible’.
