Name a more aesthetically pleasing sport. I’ll wait. @Ormskirk_CC playing host to @SNBCC, and there’s a beer festival on. Neither has really got going yet. S&B batting. Image
It has been a pretty sedate start; JJ Fielding and Jack Stanley fairly untroubled so far. Couple of edges over or short of slips. Scott Lees and Sam Holden toiling away. 25/0
Holden drops short with successive balls and Fielding pulls and cuts him to the boundary. Jamie Barnes replaces Lees up the hill. Stanley drives him for four. 43/0, bright start for the visitors.

I’m at @formbycricket for their match against @Leigh_CC. It is raining so nobody is playing cricket yet. But the forecast is better for later on, and the outfield here dries quickly (I’m told) so fingers crossed…
It does seem to be stopping. Image
Leigh’s players are living their best life kicking a football around on the outfield. I’m living mine sitting on a bench tweeting about it.

Well this is pleasant. I’m at @seftonparkcc where visitors @FBCC1833 have won the toss and chosen to field. I need to get some suncream on NOW.
This was a Premier Division game last year, of course. Bootle won the toss and bowled then, too - in hindsight, given they won comfortably but couldn’t get more than 20 points because they chose to field, it contributed to their relegation.
Here are the teams - Patel-Ponda leads the visitors in the absence of Danny Davies and Kieron New.

I’m at ⁦@nlwcricket⁩ for the visit of ⁦@SNBCC⁩ - the visitors are batting. This is Zac Donohue bowling to JJ Fielding. Isaac Lea is the other batter. The score is 10/0.
Dom Chambers from the other end. Plenty of bat-on-ball to start with. Batters keen to get forward.
Some good bits of fielding keep the score down. Nice afternoon for cricket, at a nice ground I’ve not been to before.

Autumnal day at Northern, where the hosts can wrap up the @lpoolcomp title with a win over New Brighton. The visitors have been asked to bat and are 15/0 from 4 overs after a nick through the slips by Armand Rabot off Ryan Maddock.
Sorry - Daniel Shillinglaw hit the four; Rabot is the other batter. I’d hate to get complaints.
21/0 from 6 overs, positive start from the visitors. Both Maddock and Tom Sephton have beaten the edge a few times but the batters haven’t been bogged down.

Early breakthrough for Bootle as S&B bat first… JJ Fielding was batting but is no longer, after Will Purser trimmed his bails. 4/1 after 4 overs.
Purser is bowling wicket to wicket, as he does, while Toby Lester from the other end is getting a decent amount of bounce. Tight start from the defending champions; Isaac Lea and Jack Carney at the crease for the hosts.
Lester gives Carney a bit of width and gets carved for two fours. Plenty of catchers waiting for the edge though.

Does this look like DIY? Do you see a flat pack bookshelf or an unfitted dishwasher? Neither do I. I see Northern batting against Formby in the ⁦@lpoolcomp⁩.
The visitors have made a couple of breakthroughs through Sam Ellis, who is thundering in from this end. Chris Laker and Andrew Clarke tasked with rebuilding for the hosts. 34/2.
Ollie Sutton, from the far end, causing a few problems for Clarke.

I’m at Bootle, where the hosts have made a bright start against New Brighton - they’re 53/0. More importantly, a man sat to my left is reading my article in yesterday’s Echo.
If he’s paying attention to both the article and the game, he’ll know this is the first time Bootle have batted first this season.
Bear with me on some of the New Brighton bowlers’ names. Going by the fielders’ shouts, I’m pretty sure it’s Louis Botes and Jonathan Fowler at the moment. Will Hale is on 31 and Vishal Tripathi 22 after running three to a VERY long boundary.
