So, @TheWTFNation correctly answered our #TuesdayTrivia question. V Corps was the senior command HQ on Fort Bragg in 1950. The Victory Corps was headquartered on @fortbragg from 1946 - 1950. The Korean War brought V Corps to Germany. Image
2 of 5:

V Corps was really tucked away at Bragg at the time (& not doing much). The start of the Korean War brought Truman's National Emergency declaration, which added 4 Army divisions to Europe [to include the @4thInfDiv]. V Corps was brought to Germany to command these units Image
3 of 5: Meanwhile, the XVIII Airborne Corps was brought to Bragg to command the two airborne divisions that remained in the Army. Who knows...we might be able to use this large-scale airborne capability again! [@broadcastmike - did you know the V Corps was almost an airborne HQ] Image

Oh boy.....While going through history archives this evening we thought of the WILDEST #TuesdayTrivia question for Tuesday, Sep 25 (9AM). There are probably fewer than 15 people in all of the US who know this bit of military history.

[continued....]
We're asking @K_D_Campbell to sit this one out cuz he might be one of the 15. The other people who know this are almost certainly NOT on Twitter.

This information is NOWHERE on the Internet.

This one will surprise many.

[Continued once more....]

Here's the answer to our #TuesdayTrivia: the @FightingFirst was selected to conduct the world's first combat airborne assault. In October, 1918, the entire 1st Infantry Division (12k troops) was to jump into Metz, France to envelop the German forces there. Image
2 of 5: In fact, none other than General John J. Pershing approved of the transfer of the 1st Infantry Division to the Air Service for this and possible follow-on airborne operations. Image
3 of 4: As @CAHutch1990 pointed out, the operation would likely have been a complete disaster: the airborne concept was not fully cooked, aircraft had little ability to navigate over select drop zones, & the parachutes (1918 chute pictured here) hadn't been tested w/ combat equ't Image

Since it's #XVIIIABCHeraldryWeek our #TuesdayTrivia is related to heraldry...and it's a tough one!

What active Corps component has elements going back to the some of the oldest regiments in the @USArmy - but coats of arms only about half that age?

First hint at 9:30AM! Image
First hint: Both regiments’ coats of arms reflect their service in 6 conflicts – but not all the same conflicts. Next hint at 10:00 AM!

#XVIIIABCHeraldryWeek
#TuesdayTrivia
Second hint: Both regiments have a very responsible Social Distancing motto. Next hint at 11AM!!!

When it comes to moving combat power across the globe or supporting our troops from the air, we rely on our teammates (particularly 7th Transportation and 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade)! #OneTeamOneFight ImageImage

Being America’s Contingency Corps only works if we can get where we’re going and get there quickly. The 7th Transportation Brigade (Expeditionary) works to get our forces (@3rd_Infantry, @101stAASLTDIV, @10MTNDIV) where we’re needed. Image
