🧵1/ Musk is making Twitter much less transparent, much less accountable, & thus more vulnerable to manipulation. Many of the often poorly resourced activists & academics using the API to tackle foreign influence ops will no longer be able to. Governments should worry #TwitterAPI
2/ Musk is completely stripping Twitter of the resources required to tackle manipulation. The huge loss of human capital, the commodified verification system, the edgelordism, the drive for users to appease advertisers - all are creating a febrile atmosphere for info manipulation
3/ Twitter's immune system was never great, but it is being thoroughly compromised by Musk. The tacit public-private partnership that allowed researchers API access was a small contribution to innoculation against information warfare. #twitterapi

【How to automatically get Twitter data through Python】

(Python自动抓取Twitter数据经验分享,中英双语)

It may be helpful for those who know a little Python but not a speciallized programmer.

(本经验适用于那些对Python略有了解、但并不精通编程的小伙伴)
Twitter is the most commonly used social media for Web3ers. If we have plenty of Twitter data, we can perform many interesting tasks, like automatically tracks a KOL’s new followings and find a project’s early followers. Here I'm going to share my experience for this automation:

Meet Aviary, a modern client for iOS 14 built using the new Twitter API. It has a beautiful UI and great widgets to keep you up to date with the latest Tweets. apps.apple.com/us/app/id15220…
Building on the newest features of both the #TwitterAPI and iOS was the inspiration for @JPEGuin, creator of @AviaryTheApp. “I wanted to make something that uses the latest iOS 14 features, whilst being fully feature-rich so users can make the most of it.”
“I always wanted my work to speak for me, and be out there for others in the world to use and admire,” says @JPEGuin. “It fills me with a sense of accomplishment to be able to see people use my products, and liking them, after putting in countless hours of hard work and effort.”

Academics are one of the biggest groups using the #TwitterAPI to research what’s happening. Their work helps make the world (& Twitter) a better place, and now more than ever, we must enable more of it.
Introducing 🥁 the Academic Research product track!
blog.twitter.com/developer/en_u…
Feedback from hundreds of researchers around the world helped shape what’s launching today:

• The full history of public conversation data ⌛
• A higher Tweet cap 📈
• Advanced filtering ability 🔍
• Technical resources 🧑‍💻
• And all available for free 🎉
To get started, new and returning developers must submit an Academic Research application. This process helps us make sure that access to this data will be used safely, securely, and in line with our Developer Policy.

It’s finally here! 🥁 Say hello to the new #TwitterAPI.

We’re rebuilding the Twitter API v2 from the ground up to better serve our developer community. And today’s launch is only the beginning.

With a modern API foundation, this first release gives you new features and endpoints to understand the public conversation happening on Twitter.

Yes, this includes poll results, conversation threads, Tweet annotations, and so much more. 💬🔍

Twitter postponed the launch of the new #TwitterAPI, which was planned for today. But they published a blogpost with what to expect.

In this thread I will share what I am most excited about. /0
An API that grows with you. In the past you had to switch between APIs, as your data needs increased. For me that meant switching back and forth between Standard and Premium API. The new will allow me to use the same endpoint and only change the access level. /1
Instead of Standard/Premium, there will be three product tracks. Each of them will have the ability to get elevated access.

For my research projects, I will probably use the "Academic Research" track. For @accountanalysis the "Business" track. Though these will launch later. /2

In 2011 our official #TwitterAPI documentation site launched. Up until then, developers were using Google Groups for discussions and solving problems. 👀
