In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commission has accepted the Report of the Committee and approved the @ugc_india Guidelines on Academic Calendar for the First Year of Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Students of the Universities for the Session 2020-21.

Karnataka HC hears plea concerning the UGC's July 6 guidelines mandating the conduct of final year examinations by September end this year.

The petitioners seek that the exams be conducted online.

The Court had asked VTU to respond today on why exams cannot be conducted online, given that vivas have already been done online and since the July 6 UGC guidelines also allow the conduct of online exams.

The Court had posed two questions to VTU:

* Why online exams cannot be considered when viva is done online?

* Reasonable time limit for conducting special exams.

[BREAKING] UGC to file affidavit in the Supreme Court today in the case seeking cancellation of final year exams across Universities. UGC sources have told @barandbench that it WOULD NOT be cancelling the exams.

The official has confirmed that the UGC will "stick" to the ground taken in the Bombay HC that student's future will be "irreparaby damaged" if final year exams are cancelled.…
The UGC will also submit before the Supreme Court that students who are unable to appear for the examinations conducted until September, a special exam may later be held for such a student at a later point of time.
