In 2021, many parents fought hard to return school to normal. We were vilified and bullied. If any parent dared to speak out, we were shut out of school board meetings. We were called teacher-haters, child-killers, anti-vaxxers, even domestic terrorists. 1/π§΅
We were attacked by anti-racist groups - because apparently wanting a normal life and in-person school for our children is something that only white-privileged racists would dare say. We fought the good fight. Went to battle. 2/
We were told 2 weeks to slow the spread. After that, many of our kids didn't see the inside of a classroom again for over a year. Then finally schools opened - but with restrictions and rules. 3/
I fought back against my son's school yesterday over being informed he would be forced to quarantine based on a "close contact" exposure. I presented the principal with a list of questions regarding the legality of her various policies. Where is the law I asked?
I asked her to explain contact tracing. I told her I wanted the phone number of the department that sends out the very serious Omicron detectives to conduct this "investigation". I told her - I demand to know how you knew my son was in close contact.
As suspected, when I called the OSHW I learned that nobody had been to the school yet. Guess what, they ain't coming. CPS relies on a digital registry to gather this information. They rely on children to report who they remember sitting next to at 9:45, in reading class last Tues

2/ Overall incidence is 7.26% and has never been at 5% since testing began; no statistically significant change since the mask mandate. Overall incidence 7/28/20: 7.56%, 7/27/21: 7.26%
3/ Daily incid b/w 3.12% & 11.19% over last 14 days. Avg daily incid for 7/21 (5.2%) significantly <7/20 (8.1%). Avg daily incid: May: 6.8% June: 7.6% July 8.1% Aug 6.9% Sept 5.7% Oct 6.4% Nov 7.4% Dec 10.9% Jan 12.0% Feb 7.9% Mar: 5.4% Apr: 5.8% 5/21: 4.4%
