Props to my mother-in-law, who does politely exasperated reply tweets to Trump and Johnson, gives to my crowdfunders (complaining only occasionally and privately that I have "become a somewhat expensive son-in-law") and has blossomed into a (charmingly middle-class) radical.
I'd love to identify her - she almost deserves her own gently self-parodic TV show - but I know she'd immediately be engulfed in a tidal wave of shit which she would handle with pluck but does not deserve. #UnsungMothersInLaw
The thing about my mother-in-law is that she lived through a coup as a child. She saw her parents imprisoned and was forced to fend for herself and her younger brother. What's happening here is, of course, not comparable to that. But she is very anxious.
