1/3 If Mercedes was a journo & not a partisan propagandist, she'd know that altering evidence in a criminal case to omit one party, omit all clarifying details & publish with an agenda to misrepresent it will get her & Global sued

2/3 It's just so galling that ethics are nonexistent & Mercedes would venture into the territory of maliciously exploiting children. None of the 8 kids knows their paternity & several men are alleged to be fathers including others in #CAF. Vance is one of many accused substitutes
3/3 It's also unnerving to see Global News allow Mercedes to tamper with evidence in an active trial to pervert the course of justice. Do they not have libel lawyers to vet what she's doing? At this rate she's putting her sources at risk for criminal charges... You'll see #NatSec

Big Win! #SCOTUS explicitly rules in Vance that the President is “subject to the law.” Major blow to his argument that he is absolutely immune from legitimate investigation #NoOneIsAboveTheLaw #NobodyIsAboveTheLaw #Vance
This is the key quote -- affirming exactly what 37 former GOP Members of Congress, agency heads, and legal experts said in our amicus brief. Read #SCOTUS’s full ruling here: supremecourt.gov/opinions/19pdf… Image
“The President is subject to the law” -- exactly right. Really critical language from SCOTUS today. Trump’s attys made stunning ahistorical argument for absolute immunity -- Court rejects Image

A thread with some thoughts on today #trump arguments at #SCOTUS:

The #mazars case was first--deals with the House Oversight Committee subpoenas for financial information. Important to remember: these were subpoenas to Trump accountants for info that preceded his Presidency. 1/
#SCOTUS liberal wing almost certain to unify in favor of the House and enforcement of subpoena. Question will come as to conservatives.

I thought Alito was most strident in questioning the subpoena's legitimacy. Thomas' questions were more reserved, but he seemed to agree. 2/
Kavanaugh was more equivocal, but he didn't ask anything that gave away a position. I expect him to fall in line with Alito/Thomas.

Roberts is a question mark. Tough questions for both sides and seemed to want a balance of positions. I don't think he was thrilled with... 3/

#BREAKING #Exclusive The second in command of Canada’s military Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, Lt General Paul Wynnyk quit his job. He wrote a scathing letter to CDS General Vance obtained by Global News alleging Vance planned to put Mark Norman back into the job #cdnpoli #CAF
In his letter LGen Wynnyk writes "the purpose of his letter is to advise you of my intent to release from the Canadian Armed Forces within the next 30 days." This VERY fast for a Vice to be leaving. Next up comes his reasons why. Wynnyk is not happy #cdnpoli #CAF #
Wynnyk writes that when he accepted the VCDS position Gen Vance required him two year commitment from him, Wynnyk says he originally planned to retire in 2019 but agreed to serve "away from my family and beyond maximum pensionable time..." #cdnpoli #CAF

@realDonaldTrump has placed a pause in the infliction of a military response to #Iran's #unlawful and #unprovoked attacks on #ships in #internationalwaters and a US #drone in #internationalairspace.

His own explanation?

#Iran
#Trump
#ProportionalResponse
#JohnKerry
As his tweets explain, proposed targets for such response exceeded #proportionality. Setting aside damage to ships in international waters, loss of our drone inflicted between 120 and 180 million $$$$ in loss. Proposed strike might have caused up to 150 lives.
Trump correctly concluded that such a response lacked proportionality. That consideration is important.

Limiting our response to inflicting proportionate damage demonstrates both #wisdom and #justice.
