At #VayuKutir we remain ever challenged as to the right time to pluck a fruit, the desire being to get them before the parrots do! Genetically engineered shorter fruit tree varieties keep fruits safe from birds for longer periods. Image
The Peach trees that we planted in 2017 end after settling down in newly constructed #VayuKutir have blossomed this year! Image
And here is a capture of an Almond tree's maiden blossom in our yard. Note our rain water harvesting tank standing proud unfazed by the Pong reservoir in the backdrop! Living our dream at #VayuKutir Image

I have never seen the Dhauladhars snow clad to such an extent! The range has steep stony mountains with practically no vegetation at higher heights. The extent of snow capping is gravity defying. With clear weather forecast, the next few days at #VayuKutir are going to be joyful! ImageImage

A favorite activity of #VayuKutir visitors is #Paragliding at #BirBilling, which is 100 kms - around 3 hrs by road or Kangra valley heritage railway - from #VayuKutir. Image
The journey is scenic via Kangra, Palampur & Baijnath - three of the most beautiful Kangra valley towns. Our drive yesterday took us past a colorful school short of Palampur and a hydel project past Baijnath. ImageImage
Bir, the landing point for the gliders, is in Mandi district just beyond Kangra district border. Those not upto the thrill of a soaring in the sky like an eagle for 20-30 min can vicariously enjoy the activity watching gliders land at Bir Image

A 3-km forest trail is ideal for morning and evening walks for #VayuKutir visitors. Starting from Diyara village, where we are located, it takes you through the adjacent forest down into a shallow valley, over a mountain stream, and then up a hill side to the next village, Swara, ImageImage
Almost the entire trail is along two mountain streams It first goes along the stream that skirts the high ground on which our village is located ImageImage
After crossing the stream, as you climb up to regain height the trail circles the high ground on which Swara is perched and you get to see a much larger stream / khad. ImageImage

The months of April and May are perhaps the best for #VayuKutir guests to walk along river Beas which is fed largely by melting snow during the 2 months. The current is moderate, water levels low, and the river water blue and pristine. ImageImage
During rainy season, strong flow and catchment area floods cause silt several meters in depth to be deposited along the river banks. By March end, eroded by wind, the layered silt recedes away from the river bank clearing an area for walking on sand & river stones. Image
Walking along the river bank, you can see #VayuKitir nestled in the forest, perched on high ground. ImageImage

At our @Airbnb_in home #VayuKutir, we have now introduced a delightful new experience - A ride on the the #Kangra Valley, #Himachal toy train from Kopar Lahar (around 20-km from from Vayu Kutir) to #Baijnath and back. This is about the best time in the year for the experience.
Kopar Lahar is a quaint British era railway station on a gently sloping lush green hillside. A nearby clear water stream with a small dam and a lot of birds make it an excellent picnic spot all by itself. There are no crowds even when there is a train on the platform.
The heritage look of the Kopar Lahar station, is evident. The clock on the station, as on all stations on the line, is imported from the UK for authenticity. The 2hr 30 min / 60 km journey to Baijnth costs a princely Rs 15/- Yes, even the ticket cost is heritage!
