🧵 about @LarryElder and the Newsom recall.

Unlike most non-Californians weighing in on the California recall election, I’ve actually listened to and followed Elder for decades. 1/
🤫 First, a confession. Something I never planned to write about.

📻 Most of my closest friends won’t know this, but I listen to a lot of conservative talk radio, including when he was alive, Rush Limbaugh. 2/
đź“ş I watch a lot of Fox News (for years my wife would avoid the living room from 8-9 pm ET because @BillOReilly was on our TV screen).

Before going to college, my kids would yell at me for putting on Fox during the pandemic. 3/

📮 Strange how there has been no investigation into Louis DeJoy’s role in losing, “misplacing” and delaying ballots in the 2020 election.

Plus, no reporter seems to care.

And he is likely doing it again in the 2021 recall election.

Lots of other offices are decided in 2021.
#VoteNoOnTheRecall and drive your ballot to a collection box if you can avoid the Post Office, please do.
The @USPS Board of Governors can fire DeJoy, but Ron Bloom, a Democrat, is standing in the way.

However, Republican John McLeod Barger’s term expires December 8, 2021—which when his replacement is appointed—should give the Democrats the power to fire him

1/ My newly placed “Stop the Recall” sign was ripped in half and left on my front yard. It’s a crime to do such a thing. Lawlessness and race baiting, like fake ballot boxes and hydroxychloroquine COVID cures, will not help #California.
2/ A very vocal and well-funded minority of discontents is raging to get the duly elected @CAgovernor recalled and replaced. They claim @GavinNewsom is responsible for everything wrong with how their lives are going.

I understand there is a lot of confusion regarding the California recall. I have been in contact with the California Secretary of State and these are the answers I received…Thread.
1/
The recall will ask two questions 1. Do you want to recall the governor? And 2. If the governor is recalled who do you want to replace him? There are 46 alternatives. If the recall goes through, whomever gets the most votes wins.
2/
If 50% or more vote NO on the first question, the governor remains in office. If more than 50% vote yes, the governor would be recalled and the person to replace him would be the person with the most votes.
