Labour are backtracking on opposition to compulsory photo ID at polling stations from next May. £180m over ten years to solve a problem which barely exists! Any concerns about identification could be achieved at nil or minimal cost. This is #votersupression #voterID
Lib Dem opposition to spending £180m on making everyone have the requisite photo ID for elections from next May lost by 63 to 210.@LabourLordsUK abstained. This is letting the Conservatives get away with #votersuppression @LibDemPeers opposed it. Well done @KathPinnock
Labour will regret this next May and at the general election. Why doesn’t @KeirStarmerPM understand this?

1/6. Voter suppression is crowding out policy. #VoterSupression
2/6. In a democratic system, a party campaigns on policy, and it sometimes wins, and it sometimes loses. It adjusts when it loses by changing its platform, rather than by changing the rules. The Republican Party is no longer doing that.
3/6. When Republicans lose national elections, other Republicans use control of statehouses to make the country less democratic.

I am English, and I am elated that Georgia has turned #Blue and come out for Biden.
I'd like to tell you why.
Most of my followers are Pro Europe, #FBPE, and American has such a different system and history to here, this might help explain things a little.

Biden is now leading in Georgia by 917 votes!
#Georgia has turned #Blue!
American politics is purposefully confusing, but THIS is hugely significant. Georgia is not any old state.

A win in Georgia would leave Biden one electoral vote short of the presidency. But there's more..

Think allegations of #votersupression in Georgia are overblown?

Let me tell you about the shameful performance I saw by Ga House Republicans this morning when SB463 was discussed in committee. SB463 revises the GA election code, and passed on a party line vote.

A thread.
The following amendment was offered this morning for the first time.

It precludes state and local election officials from sending Georgians absentee ballot applications-- something that helps Georgians vote safely during a pandemic, and generally increases voter participation.
Some context: When COVID hit, @GaSecofState made the decision to proactively mail absentee ballot applications to 6.9 million active voters. The idea was to remove one step from the multi-step vote-by-mail process and make it easier for voters to access VBM during a pandemic.

Broward county has a population larger than Rhode Island.
Partisan election officials can make it harder to count all votes in a timely manner by underfunding and understaffing certain areas. They then use this delay as an excuse to not count those votes at all.
They deliberately underfund certain areas so that they don't have to count all of the votes from there. #VoterSupression don't end at arbitrary deregistration, multi-hour long lineups, and broken voting machines.
These are not "new votes". They are not being "found". The actual vote total is the same as it was on election day, they just weren't included in the original numbers because of underfunding that made it impossible to count them in a timely manner.
