I've seen criticisms like this a lot & it just goes to show how stupid 'fans' of #VampireTheMasuqerade are not knowing the grander themes of the game & the Lasombra. Allow me to waffle about why the relationship is perfect for showing its themes in this thread. [SPOILERS]
Ok, so we all know about the main crux of VtM. Not only do we have all the normal scary things to worry about, but as a Kindred, we have to worry about the personal crisis of coming to terms of being a vampire and the fight that we have with our degrading humanity.
This is a REALLY important factor for all games of VtM, regardless of edition or sect that you are playing, even more so for VtM V5, the version this visual novel is basing its narrative and lore of.

Julia being of Clan Lasombra addresses this point in many important ways.

Here's a little detail from #VtM Coteries of NYC I really liked if you play as a Ventrue.

When Sophie takes you to feed on Julie you won't be able to feed on her successfully...unless you reject her and make her sad. You can only feed on sad and/or caffeinated people. [1/3]
I love how this is precisely how a Ventrue learns this, which is very different from how players would usually do it.

"Oh, Vampy McSuckerton can't feed on three-eyed gingers." Mr Smith may go as he creates his character sheet. "There, that's character development sorted." [2/3]
Nah, you play as a Ventrue in this game, you're playing this on hard mode you ignorant fucker. 😂😂

I for one never really gave it much thought (I know, for shame!) and I both love and hate that the game made me realise this. [3/3]

1/4 Today is a weirdly special day for me. One year ago today, I purchased and played #VampireTheMasqueradeBloodlines for the very first time, where I played a Tremere (I did the quiz, don’t judge). [THREAD] ImageImage
2/4 I knew nothing about the #WorldOfDarkness or #VtM, I only got it because people who had reviewed/critiqued Vampyr kept conparing it to #VtMB. I fell in love immediately with the setting.
3/4 This buggy masterpiece would send me down a large ravenous rabbit hole into an incredibly addictive pleasure-dome, in addition to me meeting some beautifully amazing people that would become some amazing friends.

1/3 “Laibon belief doesn’t focus on the isolation of the individual from the cosmic order. It doesn’t pit the cursed soul against a nihilistic force that erodes humanitas... #Vamily ImageImage
2/3...It traps the soul between the terrestrial threat of physical destruction and the spiritual crisis of psychic dissolution. It recognises vampires as just one conductor of the supernatural power that makes everything go.”... #VtM
3/3...(Kindred of The Ebony Kingdom, Chapter 3: Character Creation, Orun and Aye, p82)

#vamily! So I finished Coteries of New York by @DrawDistanceDev twice over, different #clans for #vampirethemasquerade, different routes. There's some positives, and of course, I'll keep this thread spoiler free.
On the plus side, there's no DLG going back and asking back the same questions, so there's no loops (which is good), the Log to scroll is good, the conversations feel a little more organic. Sound/Music is ok. Font sizes and text speed are good. The art is ok (esp background!)
I did like how out of three clan/characters options, the female one isn't the Toreador. Bummer is she is instead the "career oriented woman with no friends and no family". Black PC isn't the Brujah, so good!
But truth is, it almost never matters which character you play.
