The UCP & Danielle Smith are aligned w/ extremist orgs, Alberta Prosperity Project & Take Back Alberta. These groups advocate for social reform & separation from Canada.

Here's why this is dangerous & what you need to know before voting in the next election. 🧵1/9 Image
What they really want is a "constitutional republic" to enshrine their right-wing values & prevent future govs from making changes to implemented laws.

They've publicly discussed a plan to force the federal gov to yield to their demands "or else" 🧵2/9

A constitutional republic doesn't allow for societal progress or exceptional circumstances. It prevents govs from acting on unexpected problems such as pandemics or mass shootings. It removes power of future govs to make any changes, even in all our best interests. 🧵3/9

Why is far right German member of European Parliament & Russian asset, Christine Anderson, posting pictures of herself with Tamara Lich & #JCCF’s Keith Wilson yesterday?

Interesting to note, Lich helped start #WEXIT. The global far right is Putin’s ace in the hole. #cdnpoli
But here’s ADF’s Christine Anderson with another man. A Quebec resident named Kim Tsoj. He posts about Christine Anderson a lot. #FreeDumbConvoy #cdnpoli #CdnFarRight

If you followed #FreedomConvoy, even supported it, did you really understand danger it poses to Canada? Maybe you waved away extremist elements, saying just a few "bad apples". You'd be deluding yourself. It's time to scratch below the surface, start here:
thewalrus.ca/ottawa-convoy/
Those various flags seen throughout the protest. They weren't one-offs or bad apples, they were embedded in the protest from the start. You saw them:
#Trump flags, Confederate flags, 3% flags, &, yes, Swastika flags (if you have one Nazi in a crowd, you've got a crowd of Nazis).
Think this is an exaggeration? Maybe start to examine what's actually driving these groups. Organizers of #TruckConvoy have a history of extremist views, from #Wexit to disgusting racist bigotry and hatred. It wasn't hidden, you just ignored it.

How have Albertans' economic perspectives shifted during the ongoing pandemic? Our latest Viewpoint Alberta research sheds important light. #ableg #COVID19AB

drive.google.com/file/d/19jB8eF…
Viewpoint AB data show that #COVID19 affected the income and employment situations of many Albertans, creating additional financial hardships. Between March-Aug 2020, 27% of Albertans reported employment changes and 53% reported declining incomes due to #COVID19. Image
All Albertans did not face the same hardships. Women, racial minorities, younger gens, and urban residents more often experienced income declines. #AbLeg Image

THREAD: Many Canadians grieved #RBG's passing, and I wondered if some are so engaged with U.S. politics that they are volunteering.

I found out that there could be "unprecedented" levels of Canadian engagement in #US2020 elections this year. thestar.com/news/canada/20… @TorontoStar
U.S. law allows foreign nationals to do most routine volunteer work, such as phone canvassing and door-knocking. But experts say there are still questions of undue foreign influence and ethical concerns: thestar.com/news/canada/20…
This is Canadian software engineer Ravi Jagannadhan. When he moved to the U.S. in 2005, he had no intention to stay.

But @BarackObama inspired him, and he faced no problems as a foreigner on a work visa to go into his local campaign office to volunteer. thestar.com/news/canada/20… Image

Someone posted an article about how criticism of George Soros shouldn't be dismissed as antisemitic in the #WEXIT @Facebook group. The article still manages to suggest that Soros is using money to change (ruin) America by funding political races.
/1 Image
Obviously funding political campaigns is not something limited to George Soros, but it's the focus on a Jewish billionaire and the conspiracy theories surrounding him that are antisemitic.

Let's look through the comments from #WEXIT members, and see whether they understand that nuance.....😳

.@JustinTrudeau said Friday the move to cut ties was "WE's decision, which we support."

🚧 DON'T BELIEVE IT, NOT FOR ONE MOMENT 🚧

Behind-the-scenes THIS IS orchestrated. #We exit #WEexit - not to confuse with #Wexit) provides a needed face-saving way out.

NOT ONLY does #PMO get to throw a lifering around #TRUDEAU and haul him to safety out of shark-infested parliamentary waters, BUT ALSO slither out from the otherwise inescapable, all-examining scrutiny and it's potential cataclysmic outcome.

WEXIT Leader Peter Downing Escalates His Rhetoric, Bootlicking

Downing has been amping up the rhetoric towards this #BLM protestors this week, and his #WEXIT followers aren't happy about it.

/2 ImageImageImage
He's pushing his #WEXIT followers to counter protest an anti-racism event in rural #Alberta tomorrow because they're trying to look not racist I guess.

White exactly does Peter mean by "fit in". 💁‍♂️

And he's one of the 'everyone in government is part of a secret pedophile cabal' crowd.

You have a federal electoral system that only needs two provinces to be elected. They're welfare reliant with an aging demographic. You have a payment plan that takes from provinces that can support themselves to supplement the two others. What do the "haves" do with no say!
One province is attempting to fix their demographics with aggressive non skills-based immigration. So far Europe's attempts aren't working as planned. If not successful that plan becomes an economic pull on the system. Will that mean they need more from the West?
To the West - How willing are you to support these two provinces when it undoubtedly will ensure your children will not not live the life you've had. Especially seeing that respect, care for you and speak so highly of you. #wexit @albertaseparate

This is your daily pension announcement: @GrantHunterUCP this is for you! Down and dirty!
A lesson on institutional investors. JK ran on jobs, economy and pipe. He has done nothing yet but drive investment away and destroy jobs. #nothanks
During my time at ATRF I got to meet a fair number of institutional investors from all over Canada and the USA. Let me introduce you to their unique psychology. They prioritize predictability above all else.
Predictability in government policy for instance. So when JK starts waving the #wexit flag and fanning the flames institutional investors run. They want political stability over a 10-15 year time horizon.

So yeah, @CoachsCornerDC is pretty much the worst in old white maleness, the worst in Canadian sports culture, the worst in #hockey culture, and screaming mediocrity between the end boards. Yank this bush-leaguer off the pond - the final buzzer sounded decades ago. 1/x
2 Cherry’s racist #poppyrant attack on immigrants roused his boss, Bart Yabsley, to a sitting position from which he authorized a @RogersMediaPR statement claiming that someone (“we”) at @Sportsnet had “spoken with Don about the severity of the issue.” 2/x

Peter Downing of #Wexit strongly denies that his movement is pushing anti-muslim rhetoric, and is looking at legal options against those that claim it does. /1

I’m at the Boot Scootin’ Boogie Dancehall for the first post federal election Edmonton WEXIT rally. I’m not good at counting crowds but I’d say there’s at least 150 people here. Even officially starts at 4 pm
Peter Downing is the leader of Wexit. He says the movement is about economic liberty, social stability and western sovereignty. He says an independent Alberta will be the best place to live on Earth.
