an opportunity/initiative needs to have a definition that includes the description (e.g. room renting/sharing) - this should be tied to a problem definition that your key strengths can address *see previous thread (2/8)
other key components of an opportunity are the target customer profile & the value proposition. @strategyzer have developed a tremendous value proposition canvas which I find pretty useful (3/8)

šŸ§µ1/6 Notes from watching #WWDC22 ā€œWhatā€™s new in privacyā€ from a Mac developerā€™s perspective:
šŸ§µ2/6 macOS Ventura finally adds a unified API for apps to manage helpers, agents, and daemons. When an app registers itself (or a helper) to launch at login, the user is notified about it. The panel in Settings clearly distinguishes login items added by the user vs. by apps Screenshot of the Settings ...
šŸ§µ3/6 Another change is that apps on macOS may no longer update/modify apps that are not signed by the same development team, unless the other app declares the third-party team ID in its Info.plist This will lead to some scary dialogs before everyone adapts to this new model A macOS alert shows a stop ...

I spent 8 hours going through ALL developer videos from #WWDC22 to find the coolest shit in iOS 16 that you missed this week

from AR to SharePlay, some of these updates will change how you use your favorite apps, andā€¦
they will open up possibilities that spark a revolution of new apps and experiences

@Apple may have killed a lot of companies with the updates in iOS 16, but like always technological advancements made will create new onesā€¦

let's get to it...
high-resolution AR is here ā†’ 4K video at 30fps

shopping apps will have a field day with this one..

this is 2x higher background/object resolution than what youā€™ve seen so far in AR

at 8K itā€™s hard to know whatā€™s real, but 4K will fool you too.. can you spot the real plants?šŸŖ“

Just finished my favorite #WWDC22 lab of the year, an a11y design lab. I got some fantastic tips and comments about what I did right and what I fell short on. I learned about some a11y technology I didn't know about and learned new ways to test my apps.
One of the Apple employees said that they had low vision and I couldn't believe it when they said I had some of the best large text work they've seen in a while. I legit teared up when they said that. Take the time to add a11y support to your apps. It feels great helping people.
This UI element I added to Museum Shuffle is something I worried I would get ā€œin troubleā€œ for doing but it got an enthusiastic response during my lab. For people with low vision itā€™s much more clear what happened instead of a star just filling in its color when saving a favorite. A ā€œSaved!ā€ Bubble appears b...

I think Core Data and NSPersistentCloudKitContainer deserve more love.

I see it like parents: they do a 1000 things you don't imagine need to be done orā€¦ until you grow up.

Anyway, here are things I spotted in the lounges that are worth knowing about.

#WWDC22
Don't purge the history when using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer

wwdc22.slack.com/archives/C03GSā€¦
Using NSPersistentCloudKitContainer and tempted to add a toggle sync button?
Don't do it.

There are many technical reasons not to do it, but also, the user already made the choice when enabling iCloud Storage. It should just work.

Just had a great #WWDC22 lab with Cyrille from the App Store team. I wanted advice on what I should be doing if my goal is to launch a new app that uses the newest features when iOS 16 launches. Thanks to my labs from last year I knew about the form at appstore.com/promote.
BUT what I didn't know is how he told me I should use it. Start playing around with the new features and when you're happy with how things are going use the form to let the editors know you're working on something that uses new features. A TestFlight link is really helpful.
Then when the release date of iOS 16 is announced fill out the form AGAIN letting them know that you're using the latest features and you're targeting the iOS 16 release date for your release. I absolutely would not have done this without his advice. Thanks Cyrille!

Follow along as I do a series of structured @Apple RoomPlan tests and share my findings/notes in this thread.

First up, I tried tricking RoomPlan with a large mirror. Surprisingly it wasn't fooled! Also, it was way off on french doors height.

#WWDC22 #AR #ARKit #AI @Scobleizer
Test #2 - vaulted ceilings. I noticed that the wall shapes have to be rectangular. It could not follow the slant angle of the ceiling line. This made parts of my walls much taller than in reality.

It did a great job at picking out the desks and bedroom furniture.
Test #3 - cramped closet. It did a great job at figuring out the walls when almost NOTHING was visible. It couldn't pick up the bend in the wall between the mirror and the door.

Most surprising note: couldn't fool mirror #2!

If my wife sees this thread I am in the doghouse.

Wow third-party developers can now implement powerful predicate filtering in Shortcut actions similar to the ones in Appleā€™s first-party actions #WWDC22 Image

Here's my interesting #WWDC22 findings so far! šŸ§¶šŸ§¶

1ļøāƒ£ Xcode function header pinning is an absolute gem

2ļøāƒ£ NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore is now available on Apple Watch, so we can now sync simple preferences across iOS, macOS, and Watch

Diving into macOS Ventura. First up, About This Mac! It now lives in the redesigned System Preferences (Settings), which is much sleeker and easy to navigate than the old preferences #WWDC22
Apple is throwing their own HIG's out the window here. Split views, panes, check boxes and modal panels are out. Instead we have a vertical UI with iOS-like grouping and tiny switches.
This new type of UI requires hierarchical navigation, which is a new form of navigation in a core macOS UI and a very sharp cut into the heart of the previous macOS HIG. (I'm sad there's no animation here)

Extremely low light RoomPlan worked like MAGIC on my iPad Pro. You know what Iā€™m doing in the morning! Scanning the whole house! #WWDC22

Feels like Tron
Iā€™m still blown away by how well this works despite the room being as poorly lit as possible. This is important for industrial applications where lighting is harder to control.

I'm wearing a @tiltfive shirt today. Why? Because of how a woman treated me.

More: Image
I'm not wearing an Apple one. On a day when I should be wearing an Apple one because of #WWDC22 happening later this morning.

Why? Because of how @jeriellsworth treated me.

It isn't just me, either. I watched as her booth was PACKED all last week at the #AWE2022 show.
And I watched as it was PACKED at the GDC show, too. I study companies, so I notice such things.

I've met her several times over the years and she has always had a kind word and taken the time to treat me like a human being.

Itā€™s time to start a #WWDC Wishlist Mega Thread. Here we go, will keep adding things until the event.
1. iOS 16: Add new languages in Apple Translate. I can hope for Indian languages, especially Hindi, but I think they have a long list before reaching there.
2. Wider rollout for Apple Pay, hopefully we get it in India as well. Indian market is quickly shifting towards Tap to Pay, and the government is encouraging digital payments more than any other country. Apple Pay would be a great addition.
