On Wednesday after 51 years, Harold Franklin, the student activist who integrated @AuburnU in 1964, defended his 1969 M.A. thesis w/ the unanimous approval of the faculty @Auburn_History. Hear him tell his story in confronting institutional racism & why #reparations are still due 
Here is the first part of the M.A. defense where Dr. Franklin tells the story of why he decided to work with @NAACP attorney Fred Gray to desegregate #Auburn and the racism my department inflicted upon him while he was here.

My colleagues at @Auburn just completed a study confirming that racism is killing Black people---at the CELLULAR level. Their work in medical bio-genomics calls "racial discrimination, a particular type of social toxin.” #WarEagle #BLM ocm.auburn.edu/newsroom/news_…
The added stress of racism is measurable in the "the length of telomeres—the repetitive sequences of DNA at the ends of chromosomes that protect the cell." More rapid cell breakdown means more rapid aging and more rapid death.
While racism has long been tied to premature aging & premature death from stoke, heart attack, etc. these new findings establish that the link is probably causal. Increased racism is CAUSING early death independent of other factors (poverty, education, health care access, etc.)

Being on time is the biggest factor in gaining both your coaches and teammate's respect. Always make sure you know where your classes and the facilities you will be training at are prior to going the first time.

Some context on #StevenLeath as he and Auburn move on from what has been a difficult two-year tenure, and I prepare for what will be my fifth president after 13 years on Auburn's faculty.
1) His tenure got off to a bad start because the trustees cloaked the search in secrecy. It was only after he was confirmed as AU's president that stories emerged of airplane accidents and land purchases. These were not openly discussed before, so he started with PR negatives.
2) Yes, the Research I designation is awesome and beneficial, but it is short-sighted to neglect Dr. Jay Gogue's role in getting Auburn there. Leath deserves credit for finishing the journey, but it did not all happen during his tenure.

Esta leyenda del jugador nº12 ha pasado de generación en generación y aún sigue (y seguirá) inspirando a la sección de estudiantes de la universidad de Texas A&M durante sus partidos. Ellos son ahora el “12th Man”. #GigEm
La 1ª vez que se usó el término “12th Man” (que se tenga constancia) fue en una revista de la Universidad de Minnesota en septiembre de 1900, hablando de los hinchas como “una misteriosa influencia en los equipos”. Los fans empezaron a ser llamados el 12º jugador de los equipos.
