Reflections on day 7. #WeAreAllHodlonaut

It's been a long trial, and I think we were all a bit tired of the whole thing. So today felt long, much thanks to the grueling repetitiveness of Wright's lawyers.
We did get a flying start from Hodlonaut's side this morning. Haukaas and Myklebust were at their top game today, citing law and picking the opposition's citations apart.
As a layman, I've found Hodlonaut's lawyers relatively easy to follow through most whole trial, in strong contrast to Manshaus and Helle who frequently reached for strange connections to arcane precedence. Such were their closing arguments. "When you have nothing, you put more."

Day 7 🧵 #WeAreAllHodlonaut

GM Oslo 🌅 It's the last day of the trial, and court will be in session in 90 minutes.
We'll hear the remainder of Hodlonaut's closing arguments in the first session (85 minutes), and the rest of the day will be Wright's closing arguments. And then we all go home.
Be aware that this isn't like in the movies where court ends with the declaration of the verdict and the bang of a gavel. We don't know exactly when the verdict will fall, but we're talking weeks, probably well into October.

Reflections on day 6. #WeAreAllHodlonaut

What a day, it flew by. And by the end of it, I think we all shared a distinctive optimism. We expected a good day, but it was in fact a great day.
BDO and Cyfor witnessed for Hodlonaut. Well no, formally they were Wright's witnesses, but incredibly they shared KPMG's findings and even praised their report. Their remarks centered around methodology, and came off rather lightweight.
Manshaus pressed on the white paper hash differences, trying to ascribe it to sloppy KPMG work. I had no impression that any of that stuck; instead it felt like grasping at straws. Witnesses themselves largely discounted this.

Day 6 🧵 #WeAreAllHodlonaut

It's been a nice and sunny weekend here in Oslo, spent seeing the sights and hanging out with awesome bitcoiners. Ready for the final two days of the trial! Court session starts in 90 minutes.
We're scheduled to start off with BDO's witness statement. They were hired by Wright's side to pick holes in the KPMG report. So far we've instead heard that they frequently agreed with KPMG's conclusions. Will be interesting to learn more about their findings.
The final part of the trial will consist of each side's closing statements. Hodlonaut's side starts today, likely to complete on Wednesday. Keep in mind that tomorrow is off due to scheduling issues after Wright changed lawyers before the trial.

Reflections on day 5. #WeAreAllHodlonaut

Wright's witnesses today were yet more hearsay and praise and vague recollections with no retained evidence. A boring waste of the court's time.
It's hard to have a qualified opinion on Klin's diagnosis, but it having been handed out after three hours of personal interaction must be quite a bit too simple. Interesting that so much time was spent on assuring the court that he's really not a malignant narcissist.
KPMG has done proper work, as expected. Several findings seemed familiar from earlier cases. I got my wish – seeing Manshaus ask some of the world's foremost digital forensics experts if they had made amateur mistakes. These manipulations must be so harmful to their case.

Day 5 🧵

It's KPMG day, rise and shine! In 90 minutes, court will be back in session. #WeAreAllHodlonaut
We'll hear from four more of Wright's witnesses (yes, he brought like 10 of them in total, #WitnessesAreProof). There is Bridges, Sinclair, Yousuf (don't have their full names – do you?) and Max Lynam. This will take the first half of the day.
Second half is all for KPMG and their report where they found a number of manipulations among the filed document evidence. They are the foremost experts in digital forensics, so this should be fun! I expects lots of the usual sloppiness.

Reflections on day 4. #WeAreAllHodlonaut

Today's witnesses attracted a larger audience on both sides. I enjoyed seeing and meeting more bitcoiners, and still encourage more to show up!
The videos from Hodlonaut's side were old news to many, but they are a good selection of crazy and now the judge has seen them.
As expected, Hodlonaut's witnesses all did a great job. I thought Halseth would talk about Lightning, but instead he picked Sartre apart. Of course Wright would say yes it was fraud, but only to sabotage badman McGregor. Still shows Wright will use fraud as a tool.

Day 4 🧵

Good morning! Join for me for another fun day at the courthouse? We have 90 minutes to get there before court's back in session. #WeAreAllHodlonaut
Witness statements start today. We'll hear from Hodlonaut's witnesses for the first three sessions. Looking forward to this as they are all talented people.
Torbjørn Bull Jenssen is CEO of Arcane Crypto, a company with many offerings, but increasingly famous for the mining and trading related reports out of Arcane Research. Jenssen is also a media darling in all matters of cryptocurrency in Norway. A very talented speaker.

Reflections on day 3. #WeAreAllHodlonaut

I'm exhausted after each court day, but today I'm something else as well: energised! I have to interpret this physical reaction as a growing optimism on Hodlonaut's behalf.
Hodlonaut came out really well in cross-interrogation. He maintained a calm demeanour, spoke clearly and articulately, kept a respectful tone. Wright's side had surprisingly weak arguments against him, nothing that made much of an impression.
Manshaus appeared uncomfortable at times. What has he gotten his prestigious firm into?

DAY THREE of the Hodlonaut v Craig Wright Trial in OSLO 🇳🇴

REPORTING LIVE tweet recaps all day 🧵👇

Court is in session - Hodlonaut is taking the stand now.
Judge has clarified the expectation for truth - including to not omit relevant details. Now both teams of lawyers will ask their questions of Hodlonaut - and the judge also mentioned she may ask some questions of her own after both parties have finished their own questioning.
Going through the personal backstory of hodlonaut's discovery of bitcoin and what most attracted him to it (decentralization - he never idolized Satoshi), timeline of his twitter adoption - as well as when he first learned about CSW (2015).

Granath VS Wright Day 🔥3🔥 Master Thread.

Exam of Granath & Wright.

Busier day today. Probably twice as many people in court as the first 2 days.

Granath walks to stand.

Judge: "Please remain standing for a little while."

Curiously long delay, imo. Still standing...
First time hearing his voice. He says he's a writer for Citadel21 Magazine. No mention of being Blockstream's account manager at Seetee...

Judge explaining his obligation to the truth on his "honor and conscience."

He affirms.

Judge: "Files are HUGE for our computers..."

Day 3 🧵

Good morning, fellow Hodlonauts! #WeAreAllHodlonaut

Court will be in session in 90 minutes. Today is set aside for statements from each party – so we'll finally hear from them in person. Hodlonaut gets the first half of the day, Wright second.
As always, you'll want to also follow @SpecificMills and @kristiandoble, who are in audience with me.
A big screen TV is being rolled in. Perhaps there is some chance today that plaintiff will finally get to play the videos that have been put off since Monday?

Starting promptly at 9AM. We don't seem to have audio translator just yet. So, missing the opening of opening remarks from Craig's team.
Fixed it.

Some reflections on day 1: it was a long day and I'm exhausted. Today was mostly a review of discovery and outcomes from older cases. Not that interesting for us obsessives, but must have been useful for the judge. #WeAreAllHodlonaut
I was pleased to see the judge seemingly able to follow the arcane descriptions of Bitcoin's inner workings, asking intelligent questions now and then to clear up her understanding. This feels promising.
The AV issues are stupid. Calling in tech support in the middle of proceedings should never be necessary. The judge was clearly irritated.

Long Reads Sunday #42.

Who woulda thunk it? After all the tension, infighting, and tribal bickering, the thing that gets us to set aside differences & unite against a common foe is a threat to dox a spacecat.

Saddle TF up, it’s Long Reads time! 👇

Image: @CryptoScamHub
2/ Here’s the TL;DR. Craig Wright, who is absolutely and most definitely Satoshi, upped the stakes on his campaign against those who claimed otherwise by offering a $5000 bounty to reveal the identity of @hodlonaut (aka the person who kicked off the #LNtrustchain)
3/ It was a step too far.

Pomposity, outlandish claims, and outright scams are par for the course in crypto. But an outright attempt to dox someone is a straight up “fuck you” to everything anyone legitimately in this space believes in.
