ಏಷ್ಯಾದ ಹತ್ತು ಅಸಿಯಾನ್ ದೇಶಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಅಸ್ಟ್ರೇಲಿಯಾ, ಭಾರತ, ಚೀನಾ, ಜಪಾನ್, ಕೊರಿಯಾ ಮತ್ತು ನ್ಯೂಜಿಲೆಂಡ್ ದೇಶಗಳ ನಡುವೆ ‘’ ಪ್ರಾದೇಶಿಕ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸಹಭಾಗಿತ್ವ ( RCEP)ದ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿರುವ ಮುಕ್ತ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರ ಒಪ್ಪಂದ (FTA)ದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಮಾತುಕತೆಗಳು ಅಂತಿಮ ಹಂತದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

ಇದೇ ನವೆಂಬರ್ 4ರಂದು ಅಂತಿಮ ಸಹಿ ಬೀಳುವ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಇದ್ದು, ಒಪ್ಪಂದವಾದರೆ ಈ ಗುಂಪಿನ 16 ದೇಶಗಳು ಶೇಕಡಾ 80ರಿಂದ 90ರಷ್ಟು ಸರಕುಗಳನ್ನು ಯಾವುದೇ ಆಮದು ಸುಂಕ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ/ಕಡಿಮೆ ಆಮದು ಸುಂಕ ತೆತ್ತು ಆಮದು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬಹುದು. ಈ ಒಪ್ಪಂದ ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹುತೇಕ ಕೃಷಿ ಸರಕುಗಳ ಮೇಲಿನ ಆಮದು ಸುಂಕವನ್ನು ಶಾಶ್ವತವಾಗಿ ಶೂನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ತರುತ್ತದೆ.
ಈ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದೇಶಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ಕೃಷಿ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಭಾರತಕ್ಕೆ ರಫ್ತು ಮಾಡುತ್ತವೆ. ಇದರಿಂದಾಗಿ ಕೇವಲ ಹೈನುಗಾರಿಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಗದ್ದೆಯ ಮತ್ತು ತೋಟದ ಬೆಳೆಗಳು, ಸಾಂಬಾರ ಪದಾರ್ಥಗಳು ಹೀಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲ ಬಗೆಯ ಕೃಷಿ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳ ಮೇಲೆಯೂ ಒಪ್ಪಂದ ಪರಿಣಾಮ ಬೀರಲಿದೆ.
There is an ongoing discussion about Free Trade Agreement under RCEP for a long time but now it has gained a lot of traction. Almost 27 meetings have happened which will culminate on November 4, 2019. 16 countries, including ASEAN countries are part of this.

FTA, which the govt is about to sign, will cause long standing negative impact on domestic Agri, Animal husbandry & pharma sectors. India has a large consumption market due to its population, production & innovation, which other countries want to take advantage.

We will soon surpass China to become a country with highest population. Few countries have higher production but lower population. To find market for their excess production, they are trying to enter India to expand the market.
