Last night the Senate took an important step toward passing the Build Back Better Agenda – a plan to create jobs, cut taxes, and lower costs for working families. For today's #WhiteHouseDeepDive, let's look at how this plan brings down costs for Americans.

🧵THREAD:
By lowering health insurance premiums, the Build Back Better Agenda will save 9 million people an average of $50 per person per month, and help an additional 4 million uninsured people gain coverage. The plan will also add dental, vision, and hearing coverage to Medicare.
The Build Back Better Agenda's health care savings don't stop at more affordable coverage. President Biden knows that nearly 1 in 4 Americans struggle to afford their prescription drugs. His plan will lower costs by empowering Medicare to negotiate and drive down drug prices.

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework takes critical first steps to address economic inequities and decades of infrastructure neglect that have disproportionately impacted communities of color.
Here's how the plan will advance racial equity — #WhiteHouseDeepDive THREAD🧵:
Today's digital divide is stark.
Black families are 9% less likely to have high-speed internet than their white peers – and Latino Americans are 15% less likely. Roughly 35% of individuals living on Tribal lands lack access to broadband internet.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework will help close the digital divide by bringing down internet service costs across the board and delivering high-speed broadband to every American home -- making high-speed broadband more affordable for all.

Since President Biden took office, we've been working to build an economy that works for every American — especially middle class Americans — not just a few at the top.
At just over 5 months in, let's check our progress.

#WhiteHouseDeepDive THREAD 1/6: How's the economy doing?
In the last four months, Americans have gone back to work in a big way.

In June 2020, average initial unemployment claims were over 1.6 million.

Now, those claims are down and the economy has created a record-breaking 2+ million new jobs since February. 2/6
We have also seen major improvement in restaurant, bar, and other food service sales, which are up nearly $17 billion since last June.

23% fewer Americans are behind on rent and the cost of gas is around what it was before the pandemic, in 2018. 3/6

Today, we're taking a #WhiteHouseDeepDive into how the American Families Plan can help. THREAD: 1/9
The U.S. has fallen behind our economic competitors when it comes to the number of women in the labor force.

The pandemic has exacerbated this problem. A lack of family friendly policies, such as paid family and medical leave, is a key reason for declining competitiveness. 2/9
The lack of paid family and medical leave has severe consequences on the U.S. economy.

1 in 5 retirees leave the workforce sooner than planned and the decline in women's participation in the workforce has led to over $64 billion lost in wages and economic activity per year. 3/9
