Two LATINA WOMEN reached the greatest heights in a competitive industry
They brought on the stage kids in CAGES
JLo wore an American Flag that opened to a Puerto Rican flag as her child sang "Born in the USA"
I applaud them using their platform to send STRONG political messages👏
The #Shakira & #JLo #HalftimeShow2020 was obviously all about Women & Femininity. But the blatant sexuality made me pause.
How many people would be talking today about Women's bodies? Would they talk with disrespect or censure? I was concerned it would overshadow everything else
Originally I felt the stripper pole, barely there outfits, gyrating & sexual overtones sent the wrong message & took us backwards😳

But if the message is for Women to OWN their bodies & not have to HIDE their sexuality then I'm willing to consider an alternative modern message🤔

Reflecting on #WomensLib2020 on my way home, before I crash in a heap on the sofa with a mug of tea and some trash TV. How could those young people (mostly women) outside protesting fail to see a diverse bunch of women, all expressing our womanhood in different ways...
Of all bodies, backgrounds, ethnicities, straight women, lesbians, bi women. 1000 of us not having to give any fucks about the male gaze for a day in our lives, to focus on us, our rights, our needs and to celebrate our fucking unity and sisterhood.
Women of all ages, I loved meeting older feminists and actually learning about how they did things and the battles they’ve had, especially older lesbians, and now the younger generation want to pander to men in the name of “being nice”, tell lesbians to accept penises...

I’m so excited about this weekend. Who can I meet?

@Womans_Place_UK There are a few here who are coming alone and are perhaps shy. It's horrible when you think everybody knows each other, apart from you - I've been there.

If you are on your own and you: 1. have learned my face, and 2. can see me, come over. It's always fun to meet new allies.
Obviously, just as I’m telling people if they somehow remember me/recognise me to come over and say hello, I have just had a drastic haircut.

I no longer look like my avatar.

I shall be free to occupy the fort @janeclarejones
