Many thanks ⁦@wolfblitzer⁩ for hosting me on @CNNSitRoom⁩ I became a bit emotional speaking on what I call the “historic decimation” of Hispanic communities from #COVID19, and then a POTUS rally without masks for the Hipanic community in Arizona tonight? It was too much Image
Also the POTUS phrase in the #WoodwardTapes “nothing more could be done” when in reality nothing was done, there was no federal response. Virus allowed to devastate NYC after entry from Europe (not China), then resurgence across the South, and now forced school openings.
The result? 200,000 American deaths. We did not have to get to this horrible place

Woodward Tapes Impact Thread 1/18

It is difficult to grasp the relevance of a bombshell news item, as it happens. How big news is this? Trump, Covid, Woodward tapes. For the Trumpomess, is it just another scandal? Or is this worse? Maybe? The worst... ever?

Woodward Thread 2/18

Trump Presidency is a Scandalothon. Impeached. The Helsinki Hostage Summit. Kids in cages. Love letters with North Korean Dictator. Drinking bleach. Bounties on US troops. Stormtroopers in Tulsa. Extorting Ukraine. Selling Puerto Rico?

How does this rate?

To understand impact. We start with the facts. What happened? Trump is on TAPE confessing to:
- Knew Covid is deadlier than flu ie 100,000+ will die
- Knew it transmits by air (= masks, gatherings)
- Confessed he downplayed it deliberately

Now that #WoodwardTapes show us reality of Trump and #COVID19, new Fox News editorial by Charlie Kirk is even more bananas. First, Kirk gaslights a thesis: Rather than accept claim that "Trump’s coronavirus response was inadequate...." 1/x foxnews.com/opinion/corona…
Next Kirk gaslights with a "fact" claim: "Remember, the American people were originally told it would take 15 days to slow the spread of COVID-19..." Who said that? Trump: 2/x whitehouse.gov/articles/15-da…
Next Kirk turns a "study" that purported to show shutdowns didn't work. There is a reason this study was only written about in WSJ and Fox News: its author is a conservative economics "expert" who has had bad predictions before: 3/x en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Lu…

Let’s talk about the fallacy of “displaying strength.” It appears to be a derivative of the power of positive thinking or in church circles prosperity thinking. But often underlying these worldviews is an inability to acknowledge any negative circumstances. This is not helpful
Or an act of faith. I think guidance can be found in Romans 4:18-19. “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.
Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead.”
