So exciting to see the first blogs published around the #WorldEBHCDay 2021 campaign, ‘the role of evidence in an #infodemic’!

Read blog about putting #EvidenceFirst during a pandemic at worldebhcday.org/blog/story?ebh…

Check out Twitter thread which provides a snapshot of the blog👇 Group photo of Prof Sakineh Hajebrahimi & Iranian Research C
Iran was one of the first countries outside China to be struck by COVID-19, & the first in the region to experience a major outbreak in early March 2020. There was a huge appetite for evidence to guide decision making at all levels.
But the speed with which information is generated during the pandemic is unprecedented; policymakers & clinicians are swamped by the tsunami of information, both reliable & unreliable, making it challenging to remain abreast of the rapidly evolving evidence base.

A small bonus final Tweetorial for #WorldEBHCDay, this time for our qualitatively-oriented friends :) Topic: using the Word Frequency Analyser (WFA) to analyse comments (e.g. on a survey, petition, etc.)... qualitative analysis made (a little bit) easier! @WorldEBHCDay (1/9)
Step 1: make a new endnote library with a 1 reference (your name as an author, e.g.). Copy/paste all of the text you wish to analyse (e.g. free-text survey responses, multiple comments) into the abstract field, & hit save. (2/9)
Step 2: turn this Endnote library into an xml library: click on the 1 reference which has all the free text/comments pasted in the abstract (to highlight it), then click file-export, save as: XML (important!), output style doesn’t matter. Xml library is ready! (3/9)

@IFRC_Europe Authors of the impact story: Hans Van Remoortel, Emmy De Buc
Patients in need of blood products are entitled to an adequate supply of safe blood. Belgian Red Cross uses a blood donor eligibility questionnaire, asking for the donor’s health and possible risk behaviour, in order to guarantee safety of both the donor and recipient.
Blood donor selection via the blood donor eligibility questionnaire remains an important part in the safety of blood supply globally.

We enjoyed the first one so much, we thought we'd go again. Our second #WorldEBHCDay #Tweetorial we want to showcase is the infrequent times when you may need to upgrade the certainty you have in your evidence when following the #GRADE approach @JBIEBHC @WorldEBHCDay (1/8)
Evidence from observational studies and non-randomised experimental studies is (under most-circumstances) initially classified as low. However, there are rare occasions when these studies may provide higher than low certainty in the evidence #Tweetorial #WorldEBHCDay (2/8)
There are 3 determinants to consider when raising the certainty in the evidence. A large magnitude of effect, a dose response gradient and the effect of plausible residual confounding #Tweetorial #WorldEBHCDay (3/8)

How to choose between a #systematic review or a #scoping review. This is a common question with our network, so for #WorldEBHCday we wanted to break it down in a #tweetorial. #EvidencetoImpact @WorldEBHCDay (1/13)
There are three questions you can ask yourself to assess which review is right for you (here is also a fun way to do this: …srightforyou.knowledgetranslation.net) (2/13)
Question 1: Do you want to use the results of your review to answer a clinically meaningful question? If yes, a #systematic review is likely the right approach. (3/13)

To celebrate #WorldEBHCDay, @JBIEBHC developed a #Tweetorial on our approach to facilitation as an essential component of @JBIEBHC evidence #implementation strategy. @alexamcarthur1 @kylie_porritt (1/9)
Achieving practice changes using the @JBIEBHC evidence #implementation framework requires facilitation skills that include the ability to articulate a purpose and an action plan; inform, motivate and persuade others; solicit support; and foster team development. (2/9)
@JBIEBHC facilitation capitalises on a strategic partnership between evidence #implementation researchers (external facilitators) and frontline clinicians (internal facilitators) who drive the practice change based on a solid understanding of the local context. (3/9)

For #WorldEBHCDay we wanted to share our first #Tweetorial about the 5 determinants to consider when downgrading the certainty that we have in our evidence from RCTs when following the #GRADE approach @JBIEBHC @WorldEBHCDay (1/8)
Certainty in the evidence starts as high when following the #GRADE approach. However it may be necessary to downgrade the certainty in this evidence. We do this by assessing the following 5 determinants Guidance: shorturl.at/qxB68 #Tweetorial #WorldEBHCDay (2/8)
Study limitations. Consider the methodological quality of the included studies providing evidence of a particular outcome. Consider how each study contributes to the magnitude of effect and downgrade conservatively Guidance: shorturl.at/aepO1 #Tweetorial #WorldEBHCDay (3/8)
