#Astronomy is regarded as the oldest of all sciences.

The ‘study’ of astronomy started when our predecessors realised that sunrise happens in one direction and sunset in the other, and that the Moon has a different shape (phase) each day.

-In that way, the sense of astronomy may even predate the invention of the wheel or control over fire.

Can it be called news if it’s billions of years from happening? Actually the new result is the gorgeous discovery by @Sydney_Uni of 2 previous galaxy collisions in Andromeda’s past making it even larger for the one with us!
The infalling smaller galaxies into Andromeda arrived in two vastly different directions, which is a prediction of the cosmic web where galaxies and gas flow along filaments into intersection points or nodes - and those nodes contain galaxies like Andromeda!
