Eiffel Tower #EiffelTower was built 1887 to 1889 as a temporary tower for the Paris 1889 World's Fair. It was easily the world's tallest building, and was made possible by changes in material. It has three "floors". To visit, book tickets online. The arches are cosmetic. 1/

Cassions, massive underground cofferdams were built to keep out water. This has worked ever since.
